75th anniversary for the province of Alberta 1980. We had what they called a black gold edition. It looked very similar to the gentleman Jim but it had an oil rig or a pump jack on the back behind the wheel well (sticker)

This was hanging on a wall so that is all I saw of of the truck. It was also in the Midwest so I’m really unsure about it being a Canuck Truck. That is good info to have though thanks.

Re: Gold trim gmc grille?

Not likely a Canadian truck our black gold was a 1980 so the grill is a lot different then the 79 grill or the gentleman Jim it was a 75 I think

Any chance you have a picture of one? I’ve got an 80 K10 that is black with the middle band gold. No sign of any oil rig, but grille has gold in it.

Re: Gold trim gmc grille?

If your interior is a gold Color all the ones with rally wheels the rims were gold. Some had the gold strips on the hood but not all. I had one but don’t have any pics of it. Sorry. As I recall the radio ad was black gold strike up a deal. If ever I run across a pic I’ll post it.

Re: Gold trim gmc grille?

Could it be from a '77? I know the '77 Model year had yellow/gold rather than black lines on the side trim. I believe this was to celebrate the 75th anniversary of GMC.

I will have to look at the front of mine in daylight to see if my '77 has Gold around the grill. Not that it would be definitive if my doesn't have gold/yellow on the grill, as I believe my grill MAY have been replaced after a fender bender in the early 90s.

Have a good one,
Christopher

It’s tough to tell, interior was a grey crushed velvet when I got it in 91, even dash was covered. The gold in middle of body was painted silver, but you can still see the gold paint underneath. Rally rims were painted same silver too. Hood had been pained all black too. The guy had also swapped out 350&auto for 454/4 speed. I was only 15 in 1980 & don’t remember these editions. I’ll have to ask some of the older locals about it. Thanx anyway.

Re: Gold trim gmc grille?

interesting I bought some GMC hubcaps from a swap meet a while back and they are gold. The guy I bought them from said they were from a Gentle Jim but have not seen any this style on any truck. I thought the gold was probably just faded red.

Gentleman Jim trucks had gold rally wheels, not those hubcaps.

Re: Gold trim gmc grille?

I’m pretty sure it is a gentleman Jim grill. Now that I look at them. It had the chrome bar in the middle and the gold paint on the edges. I think I will pick it up next time I roll through the town.
