Lower, bag, or leave alone?
I've got a 1989 GMC Sierra 2wd that I'm trying to figure out what I really want to do with. I've had it repainted and everything is almost perfect except for the stance. It's rolling on 20" torque thrusts and has a slight lowering kit on it but it was put on so long ago I don't even remember what it is.
The question I have is should I drop it more? Static drop with flip kit or do I bag it and cnotch. I like low and the thought of bagging it but the bed is pristine. We sprayed it with Raptor Liner then painted and cleared over it and I do not want to cut the bed to bag it. So I guess my question is, can I bag it with a cnotch and not cut the bed? Or am I better off static dropping it a couple more inches and calling it good. Or just leave it as is? I'm not worried about laying frame but like the idea of pulling up at shows and letting it drop when I park. Thanks for the help. Any pictures you have of options would be great! |

That is a beautiful truck just the way it is! But in the end, it is what you like that matters.

If you like it low. First pic 4/6 (2” front springs,2” drop spindles,axle flip with cnotch) doesn’t require touching the bed and you can keep full exhaust out to the bumper. Also depending on your tire size you will rub (just simply hammer the inside fender slag and bend the back of your aluminum wheel opening moldings in.you may need to do some releaf slices to get the inner lip to bend.but you will never notice it from the outside.Second pic Ridetech bolt was 4 link (uses a frame cnotch) with 3rd pic front cool ride, the only bed mod is to cut half the center brace under the bed and you lose full exhaust and have to dump the exhaust before the axle. Check out my build. Hope it will help you descide. Forth pic with Ridetech air dropped out.

The other option is cantilever. But you would need a steep cnotch. So you would have to cut the bed floor and raise it up. The only good part is you can finagle an exhaust out the back and you can lay frame with a steep enough cnotch.Then if you want the front to match you will have to cut up your inner fender and cut down the front air dam. But thats not what you sound like you want to do. I’m just giving you and who ever else an idea of what’s out there.

Thanks for those options. That's exactly what I was looking for.
I like the look of the 4-6" drop I think. Nice and aggressive and minimal work. I've had this truck since I was 17, so for 23 years it's been a part of me. I just don't want to move too fast and regret it later. I keep promising my wife that this is the last time I build it which is a lie but she believes me I think. Appreciate the help! Thanks! |

What drop are you running now. Looks like 2” lowered springs in the front and 4 inch blocks in the rear. Looks like you are already within about 2 inches of a 4/6. l don’t know how many miles your lowered suspension has on it. You should just add conpontents to get it to a 4/6. Then with the money you save. Put it in a brake upgrade. We all know much our brake arent to desired for

I've honestly forgot what I have on it over the years. I do plan to upgrade from stock brakes when I lower it. I know I don't have a flip kit in the back yet so that I know I will need to add on.
I like the idea of doing things cheaper for sure! I've got a 66 c10 that I'm about to install air ride on and the wife isn't real happy about two projects running at once. |

Static drop more. Add helper bags in case you want to carry heavy things. Enjoy the best of both worlds.

No matter what you do, you'll want it lower Happens every time!
If you don't want to cut the bed just go 5/7. My 98 is 5/7. With this (or a 4/6) you will need a c-notch and the notch the bed support over the rearend. |

My old 94. With full air ride with all Ekstensive parts. Rear bed floor, & both front and rear inner fenders modified. |
