What is this stud on the floor of the cab on my 68 for?

There’s one on the driver and passenger sides near the back of the trans hump.

If I remember correctly there was a hole in the rubber mat for that stud. I may be wrong but I remember them from earlier trucks before carpet was put in trucks.

They hold the fabric and tar insulator that goes under the rug in place. I think the rubber has holes in to for these as well. The new aftermarket floors don't have them.
