Pulled the Interior this past weekend need suggestions!

So I got around to doing some work on my 79' this past weekend because of the nice weather, I don't have a garage and w/ the very snowy winter couldn't do much of anything blazer related! So I was playing around w/ the rear latch last week w/ the key and found out you can lower the glass by turning it to the right, I knew it had a power rear glass because it has the switch on the dash but doesn't work, anyways so I put the taigate down for the 1st time since I owned it, pulled the rear sill trim off and checked under the carpet to see how clean it was and it was very clean, just a little surface rust were the screws go on the right side of the rear sill trim, then went to the front and pulled off the door sill trim pulled up the rug and padding it was
moist and lots of surface rust so I stipped out everything to dry it out
and here's what I have, there are a few 1/4 - 1/2 holes in verious areas and
would like to know the best way to patch them and refinish the drivers/pass floor?

Re: Pulled the Interior this past weekend need suggestions!

Thanks Guys, I think I will go that route sorta, I'll probably get some scrap sheet metal from my buddy's sheet metal shop and weld in patches in those spots and then get some Eastwood rust converter and encapsulator and do the whole floor pan.

What do guys think of or know anything about that Lizard skin stuff that Eastwood sells for coating interior floors?

What gage sheet metal should I be looking for?

I would use something under 20 gage and that would work just fine.. Good luck.

your lucky man i have a 78 k5 blazer and a 78 gmc jimmy both with floors that have rotted through to the point where there are soccer ball size holes i would definitly go the route of making tiny patch panels and hitting the rest with eastwood product

Re: Pulled the Interior this past weekend need suggestions!

Here's an update on the interior, I went ahead and did it right and had the rear floor sections replaced, I had a sheet metal shop replicate the center hump since nobody makes one, unfortunately I have no pics of the new pans
in because I broke our camera prior to getting them in which sucks, but anyways, I put Dynamat over the whole floor sections front and rear, I highly
recommend this stuff it's so nice to drive now and feels real solid! I got a new carpet set from Auto Custom Carpet for $235 on ebay and it fit great
I restored the center console dk. red w/ the middle strip section red then cleared it, I used the color-bond paint from LMC. I got a set of front velour
seats of ebay (MY FAVORITE FACTORY SEATS) from a 92' extended cab chevy, and the rear is a 3rd row seat from a 93' suburban, I was able to re-use the orignal floor latch on it, just had to re-drill one hole. I posted a pic of the front because I scored a 77-79 grille in the GM box w/ the emblem never used @ the monthy swap meet for $60 last month!

Re: Pulled the Interior this past weekend need suggestions!

Thanks Guys, ever since I had my 92' 4x4 blazer about 6 years ago they became my favorite style of seats, I had a 97' yukon since then w/ leather
and now drive a 03' Tahoe Z71 w/ leather and they don't compare to how
comfortable the velour is!

BIG J, the back has a flip and a c-notch and that gave it about a 7" drop
from stock, the front has DJM 3" drop control arms w/ 2" drop coils which
accually gave it a 5.5 drop from stock!
