Re: newer rear end and trans?

Yes the rear axle will work but the spring pads and shock tabs will have to be cut off and re-welded in the correct locations. I just put the rear axle from an 04 under my 73.

The 4l60 will take a controller for it to shift and you will have to move the trans crossmember.

Hey Ghetto, tell me about your wheel selection after the 04 rear end swap. I would like to do the same using a late model disc brake rear but just have not figured out how to match the front of my 2 wd 86 1/2 ton. Pics maybe? Thanks
