Toe in.

I have been reading a few threads about setting the toe in on a straight axle, pretty straight forward and i have the spec in my manual. I also know that the toe in ideally will move to 0 while at speed.

With what i read nobody mentions if the wheels should be in the air, or on the ground, should you drive forward and stop, then check it with a little road surface tension?

Good questions. I've always done toe-in with truck on all fours. There is basically no camber adjustment,so things that go for independent suspension don't apply here. IIRC,I set toe to 1/8" in. Maybe that's so that with road tension it will be about 0.

There should be some consideration to tire diameter too. Tires that are much larger than original need a bit more toe. An 8th of an inch is fine in the 28"-32" range, but when you get to 35"and over 3/16" or even up to 1/4" for larger than that.

Good point, I'm running 33" BFG's, I guess I'll shoot for 1/8-3/16. Thanks!

Longhair is right again. I had 35's on my burb and it drove best with a 1/4" of tow-in. 1/8" still road walked quite a bit.
