Air ride without steering and bed modifications? (1980 C15)

I'm planning a new project with a friend on a 1980 GMC C15 and we're thinking about using air ride. Neither of us has used it before. Our goals are to improve handling, cruise at a ride height similar to a 4/6 or 5/7 static drop and then park as low as possible without steering & bed mods. Is it still worth it to spend the money on air if we're going to leave the steering and bed stock?

I see the Ridetech level 1 kit reuses the factory control arms so I'm assuming it's not necessary to modify the steering. Does the rear four link in that kit require bed modifications? Are there other options we should consider?

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the reply. I did a better job searching after I posted but couldn't figure out how to delete this.

I haven't found anything about having to do steering shaft mods though. I thought they were only necessary when you replace the crossmember. I'll do some more searching about that.

I had that kit in my brother's truck. No steering mods. No bed cutting. Didn't get very low though. It rode great. Not worth the price though. You can get a similar kit from board vendors for a much cheaper price.

Which vendors are you thinking of? I checked the suspension marketplace but there's no vendor list and about a dozen posts from 2016.

Travis at AZ Properformance will put together a good package for you. AVS doesn't advertise here anymore but will do the same.

As mentioned above, no steering mods with this kit. RideTech does make a nice product, but are other options out there. Be glad to help in any way.
