Hi Jon. Could you do me a huge favor and look at the 2 photos I attached?
This is the alternator and PS bracket setup I used. Does this look right to you?
My alternator seems to be further back and out of alignment with the crank and WP pulleys which I know are correct.

Any help would be great
Thanks
Keith

Yes , those are what I used but there are SO many different offset pulleys I suspect thats where your trouble is. Pictures of those may help

Heres a truck unit , same basic thing. The idea is for the pump to raise up over the frame. I did shorten my main bracket just a bit.http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...Power+steering

What do I need to take the 292 out and put in my 454? Will the stock small block frame mounts work? Or is there a better way?

You can see how I went in my build thread. Been driving the truck for about 3 years now with about 9000 miles put on.

Some guys like cutting or beating in the firewall to use stock mounts , lots of pros and cons on this. In 1968 they started putting BB in these trucks and designed a frame mount to move the engine forward just enough. This is a picture of my 63 with 454 and 68-70 BB mounts, no firewall modifications and TH400. Everything bolted in. This is the exact setup ,( and engine) as the GMC I did above.

Big Block only. Junk yards or guys that part these out on our parts boards here are more reasonably sometimes. They can be pricey being for the BB , however I would think unless you can do bodywork for the needed modifications to your firewall, it will equal in cost of the mounts.

Re: Post your pics of 60-66 BIG BLOCK only trucks / engines

I saw today that POL has tubular frame mounts that move the engine forward for HEI. They "claim" they will work for big and small block because of that. Do you know anyone who has used them? I don't want to spent $130, but if no firewall work is needed, might not be a bad deal. Like most of the 60-66's, mine needs its share of sheet metal work already. It's a C30 panel, converted to bus when new. That means four more feet of cancer. LOL!!!
Now I'll try to see how to get to the parts section of this website. I'm computer challenged.

I used the tubular mounts but I had to massage the firewall in two places for valve cover clearance just a little.

Re: Post your pics of 60-66 BIG BLOCK only trucks / engines

Did some research and found a hot rod shop in Everett that carries OM frame brackets for the 67-70 BB. WOW!! So I figured what the heck, give Chevy a call to see if the parts are still avail thru them. I'll post what I find out.
Thank you everyone for all the help!!

Here is a source for the frame brackets and the big block engine mounts themselves.

These can sometimes be found in the '67-'72 classifieds here on the forum.

Re: Post your pics of 60-66 BIG BLOCK only trucks / engines

Brothers has the frame parts on sale for $120. The motor mount is the same price. Lil more money to go OEM over tubular, but if it saves the firewall ........
Now I know what to do up front. Time to research the rear end.
I want to put in my 74 C20 14 bolt. (its new with 3:73) Is there a rear end thread like this engine thread?

BTW, My 454 is .30 over, 9:1, balanced, RV cam, air gap intake, full tube headers. 2.5" Flowmasters, TH400 with shift kit and a Gear Venders overdrive. I plan on towing my 1976 32' Silver Streak RV. I think the C30 bus should do the trick in style.

They look like them. I ordered mine from www.truckandcarshop.com . I know the frame is trimmed back since I am the one that trimmed it.

The 65 C30 and 74 C20 have leaf springs. I'll get width measurements from both trucks tomorrow. I hope they are close. The springs are the same width.
