need help on installing 3" body lift

I have an '89 GMC Sierra Z71 with the 350 and a 5spd manual tranny and i would like to install a 3" body lift.
From what I've heard I need a steering extension(encluded in the kit) and i would have to do some work on the shifter? or tranny linkage?
I NEED HELP! any and all info on this install is needed. I want it to be done right the first time

I think 4 wheel parts sell the part that you will need for the shifter If not they can prombly build you one becouse they install these kits everyday hope this helps.

What, you will also need to think about is lowering the radiator,
or simply removeing the sheild. also the length of brakes line from the master cylnder to the frame. also you might want to change the original body mounts to new ones. I have done several of these, only on jeeps though.
I think it is a cheap way to stuff some larger tires while keeping
the stock ride. Mr buddie hates his blames them for cracking
the body at every mount.

Hey '89Z71,

You will need to lower the radiator, extend the clutch linkage, and make sure that your shifter still moves freely. I have not installed one on the same model as yours, but have installed them on a manual tranny vehicle before. We simply welded a 3 inch extension into the clutch linkage to return it to stock position. The kit should come with radiator relocating brackets, and your steering you will have to check, might be ok, sometimes you have to drill out a plastic piece to get the shaft to extend. The other thing you need to check is the filler neck on your gas tank. Most of the time they are ok, but you might have to buy a longer piece of rubber. As stated before 4Wheel parts has done a million of these, take advantage of their expertise.

This is a piece of cake. I installed a performance accessories brand part#10013 for a 94 chevytruck. This kit comes with everything you need to install. You will have to cut and weld the lickage bracket but it is very simple. The only piece you do not get is the rear bumper relocation brackets. You do get front bumper relocation brackets, steering shaft extension, radiator spacers and a bracket to move e brake cable out of your way. A shop in my town wanted $400 to install. I did it myself in about 8-10 hours. Good luck!! This kit is also available from summit. I paid $160.

phantom dually : could you send me a picture of the clutch linkage piece that has to be lenghtened 3" and explain how to do it. i dont want to screw this up. thanx
