One piece of 3/4 cabinet grade plywood, that was split down the middle and covered in tiger stripe veneer. New stainless with the sliding adjustable bolts.
Bed was also raised 3" due to the lowering of the truck. Sides were sprayed with Raptor liner.

Thanks, tried to keep it as functional as possible as this truck is nothing more than a bike hauler so I don't want to cry anytime someone throws something in the box

Re: Post your Bed Wood/Metal - Customized/Modified or Stock

I got bed rails for Christmas. Thought I would mock it up before I started bolting everything down. I took me half the day to drill holes in one angle strip cover and install it.

Re: Post your Bed Wood/Metal - Customized/Modified or Stock

Went from steel plate over the wood to factory specs. My dad and I cut, routed, and stained the wood ourselves. Used the bed strips I had in the truck since they were still in good enough shape and got new bolts all around. Completed this part of the project over the summer, and not long after used it to snag a fridge for my dorm room. I added some tie down points since there weren't any down low from the factory.
All the info on this forum has helped me a ton since I bought the truck, thanks everyone.

Re: Post your Bed Wood/Metal - Customized/Modified or Stock

Ipe...or Brazilian Walnut...Super hard, weathers to a grey if you don’t oil it. Has to be drilled when used as a deck material to put fasteners in it. Stuff is so hard and dense it don’t float. Found it in 3.5, 5.5 and 7.25 widths and it works in the original mounting holes, you do have to trim the 3.5 down a bit to tuck it under the two side strips so the holes show up. Adds a little more weight, but that should just give a better ride for our coil spring trucks. Buying the boards and routing the grooves for the strips myself was cheaper than all pre drilled oak kits I could find. And I hid the bed/frame bolts by inserting the bolts heads into the board’s underside with a forstner bit. Stacked head dado cutter on table saw, two passes for the strip insets...picts of a test board...

I saw you posted somewhere that you did aluminum diamond plate, but said would have rather used steel diamond plate because of needing more weight in the rear. I have steel diamond plate in mine and have been thinking I might rather have aluminum so to shed a little weight. Are you having handling issues with it being too light in the back?

Here's my shoptruck bed, just finished this week.
Walnut budget style.
I used spruce 3/4"x6" burnt the grain, two coats of Nescafé Brasero instant coffee , one coat of walnut stain topped of with three coats of varnish.
I think it turned out great for a budget bed floor.
