Re: truck plans over the winter?

I plan to finish up my stepper this winter. Had a set back with the new engine having a cracked block and had to build it again but I think I'm heading in the right direction now.

Re: truck plans over the winter?

Finally going to finish the 71 Cheyenne I've had for over two years now. It has 4700 miles on a crate 350ci, 200R4. It's a factory Hugger Orange A/C truck. Found a pair of GM short bed sides going to get paint and body this winter so it will look like the truck below.

Fix the heater, no power to the fan and I’m not good at electrical. Any tips and trick would be appreciated

Oh yeah. I want to pressure test my evap and heater core and clean up the case to get it hung on the firewall.

Thanks. I am a cancer survivor and planned to give my son the 65 (his choice) and my daughter my 70 when I am gone as an inheritance. I got to thinking that I might as well give the cars to them now so I can see them enjoy them. I took the 70 to my daughter and her husband in October. Garage seems empty now. Only the Corvette in it while waiting for the Blazer to come home. Here is the 70 now residing in Delaware.

Re: truck plans over the winter?

The shop truck is getting a tilt steering column, LED lights in the instrument cluster, going to work a little bit on the brakes and MAY do a repaint as some of the old bodywork is starting to show.

I understand setbacks alright.
Those are interesting looking wheels. I don't believe I've ever seen them before. 15x10" with maybe 255/60 tires?

Re: truck plans over the winter?

I plan to drive mine whenever possible. Need new tires. May buy a welder and start patching the floor, supports, rockers, etc. Need to add spark plug wire retainers and heat shields at some point also. Have new wires and plugs. Couple wires under the hood that need to be replaced. Heater controls need replacing and the heater plug is missing.

Actually 255-50-16 on Ulta 10" wheels. They were on the truck when I bought it. It had 295 on it when I bought the thing but I could not find any that size to replace them. The 295 looked better with a taller side wall to me. It's on stands now but it's been lowered.

Before photo, White letters were the bigger tires.

Re: truck plans over the winter?

I plan for a rebuilt chassis ready for body by spring. Course the body won't be ready, but at least my "half" will be done.

Re: truck plans over the winter?

You've got some work plans. Did you think about bracing the cab before cutting the floor and firewall out? Many people do. I'm just saying.

I'm going to be swapping in a 8.1 vortec in my '71 gmc. I'm also going to be starting a build thread on it.
