After several phone calls to an ad on Craigslist, I thought I had finally found a good deal on a '69 K10 that was meant to be a daily driver. After a two and a half hour drive with a truck and trailer (thankfully.....I was told I could drive it home) this is what I saw.....

Here's an interior shot and a motor shot too. Long story short, the motor was junk. Both doors were beyond repair. The cab floor was eaten up with rust as well as both sides inner & outer rockers gone.

Got the front end tore off, more rust than anticipated. Motor has to be pulled too.

Motor pulled. Startring to repair the firewall. Over the last 40 years there have been multiple holes made in the firewall that will need to be fixed. Welded up the original hole for the wiring harness, as I will be installing a new painless harness. The complete area where the blower motor mounts was gone. After cutting and welding in a new peice, it was spread with bondo as well.

Starting to rip into the interior here. Both side floor pans were rusted pretty bad. As well as the rockers.

As you can see, the cab was originally a 2wd cab. Both cab corners were shot as well. Starting to repair the cab floor here.

Got the body work finished on the firewall. Decided to shoot the engine compartment and firewall area black, instead of the same color that the body is going. The frame was painted with POR 15.

Starting to wrk on the rear of the cab, usuall dents to fill. Don't know what they painted this cab with last, but it was some nasty junk to get off!! You can see in the last pic, the frame needs much attention too. Can't tell it from here, but some of the frame will need to be sectioned; rust took it's toll on it as well.

I mentioned before that the 350 that was in it was no good. While I was starting on the body work, I found a solid 350 at a good price. My intentions are to build a nice daily driver; I may have went a little far on the motor for a daily driver. That 350 I picked up was fine......but, I decided to have it punched out to a 355. Basically replaced everything bigger and badder than I needed to on the top end. The only thing I didn't do was have the pistons replaced with forged ones.

This is about it looks like as of date. I have since put on some 35" BFG's on polished aluminum wheels. The doors that were on it were shot, I found some in Ky at a decent price that needed alot less work than the ones I had. I decided to replace both the front fenders, they are trimmed out for now. If anyone knows where I can get a bed fairly close to southern Ohio, that would be awsome!!! This one is border line junk, and the cost of new bed sides are not in the budget......

Purchased a power seat out of an '03 K1500. Question..........do you guys think I should keep the fuel tank in the cab? I can't make up my mind on it. I have a decent tank with a new sending unit sitting in the shop now. Let me know what you think.

Keep up the great work! I am not sure you can get that seat in without taking the tank out. You may be pushed up against the steering wheel.....I think. I would be interested in what you find out!

Making some good progress. IT was definitely a project for sure. It appears to have a later frame 73+ frame from the looks of it. Keep up the progress. Trevor

Good eye Trevor! At some point in time someone has placed the body on a newer frame. It has a corprate 12 rear, and a corprate 10 front, so the best that we can figure is it is towards the closer side of the 73 - 87 frame. Thanks for the encouragment!! And yes.....it is definently a project. Oh well, someday it will be a daily!!!!!

Your progress is giving me motivation. For what it is worth, I've decided to move my tank outside the cab. There a lot of aluminum tank suppliers available and many will make a custom tank for you if you're interested. Try Boyd welding - he can hook you up with a good deal.
