Build Question: Paint/Seals
I'm going to have my Blazer completely painted but how realistic it to expect to replace vent window seals along with ALL body seals w/o scratching paint? Should I go about it another way? Amateur question but we all have areas we need help on so...what say the hive? Wanting to go about putting this buggy together without messing up. Thanks!
BTW, replacing windshield also. After paint? Should installer be able to do it w/o damaging paint? Do I need to let paint cure for a set time?

Re: Build Question: Paint/Seals
youll have a far better job if you paint 1st...then do all the seals...that eliminates any tape lines...thats what i did to mine...stripped it all down, painted ,then installed..if the paints cured good there wont be any issues...if you have a area your worried about, some tape will help protect the paint to an extent..

Re: Build Question: Paint/Seals
mongocanfly, Thanks.
That's what I thought since I didn't want tape lines but am concerned how to work on it w/o scratching paint. I did the window regulators using painter's tape to hold the window. (Talking original paint here.) When I took the tape off, the paint came with it which is why I decided to do a complete paint job. I do know the guys at the body shop turn their belts around so the buckles don't scratch the paint. By watching You Tube videos I saw where the vent window assembly looks difficult to install and was most worried about scratching the paint during that procedure. Guess the good part is my son will be doing the installation when he gets home from his deployment with the Army. He's one of those guys who's good at everything he does. Just wanted some reassurance I'm one the right track. I think I'll let it cure for a month just to be safe and I'll enlist as much help as I can get. Thanks again!

Re: Build Question: Paint/Seals
I didn't have any issues when I put my vents in...but I think I put tape around them till I got them in place...
no way should the tape have pulled your paint off...sounds like there were other issues going on..
