Looking For McReary tires
Hi, I am looking for a place in California, (Southern) that sells McReary tires, also called American Racer. The tires are used on hot rods.
Thanks in advance. If you wanna look at my ride: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/B...25/DawgYa.html Last edited by DAWGYA; 02-18-2003 at 06:12 PM. |

McCreary... Don't know of any vendors in your area. I ran the G60 15 dirt track tires on my Camaro for quite awhile. Finally replaced them with BFG drag radials. I hate the way the bias tires squirm at speed.

Well, I love them, I have a set of 295/50-15 dirt tires on the back of my Mustang, they hook SO damn good, and I love the full street appearing tread.
Check it out: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/B...25/DawgYa.html |

SUmmit or Jegs used to carry them. I don't know how fast your Mustang is, but rumor is the Nitto Drag Radials are best for all around street use. Them or the BFGs will hook harder than the McCrearys. When I got my first set, circa '85, nothing else hooked on the street like they did. Since then, street tire evolution has come a long way. Check out the NIttos, I would have gone that way, but I got a near new set of BFG's for virtually half price.

I like the bias ply construction's ability to allow the side wall to wrinkle on a hard launch and the ability to air them down like a slick, you can't really do that with a radial. And the squirmy ride takes some getting used to, but that is only something I noticed when I would drive them at 15 psi or less. The 295/50-15d mcreary tire is a super soft dirt compound, like a slick you can almost stick your finger nail in them, like bubble gum. I might consider using the BFG or Nitto if they offered a size similar to the 295/50, but they are either too small or too big.
