Methmouth bike rider vs. 71 c10

Like the title says..... Just got my c10 back on the road two days ago after ten months in my garage. Did a LS swap, interior, and lowering. Ran great and drove straight, and looked good. Yesterday took it down to the auto parts stor to pick up part for sons blazer. Weather was nice, windows down and listening to those magnaflows rumble and feeling proud about what my son and I accomplished on the 71. All was going fine until the ride home...driving down the road doing about 40mph(road is divided by a cement curbed medium) when a damn biker rider, followed by his unleashed dog, ride right out into my path! Right damn in front if me! Split second reflex of swerving to the left away from him to not run his butt over and kill him and his dog. Truck hits the cement curb with the left front tire. Brakes lock up. The force and angle that I hit the curb, causes my ass end to whip around and I land right on top of the medium. Luckily I didn't get hit by the cars behind me. I look up right into the face of the bike rider..he smiles and laughs with his mouth full of meth teeth and takes off. The anger I felt at the moment wasn't legal in this state. If I got my hands on him...first pictures of my truck. Then photos of the damage. Looks like two bent lower A-arms, bent center drag link, and a cracked oil pan. Haven't checked wheels yet for trueness.

I'm not far from you. We got the meth heads and crack heads doing the same sh*t. I work in the rough area of Fresno and I've almost ran a few over when they decide to run into the street when I'm barreling down the road with loud ass 40 series flow masters coming at them at 50 mph.

It's getting bad. We have this pack of them that ride there bikes all over town. Causing trouble, About 20 of them. They all meet up at their "rehab meeting" down the street where this turd ran out in front of me. A drain on society and our taxes.

Re: Methmouth bike rider vs. 71 c10

Good news is a scored a center link here on the forum! Thank you Todd68Chevy! Thinking ILl probably be able to use something like JB weld on the cast aluminum oil pan. It's not leaking out the crack so I'm sure it didn't go all the way through. Soon as I gt the front end apart tomorrow I'll get a better look at the A-arms. And hopefully don't find anything else fudged up. Im hoping I'll be able to get her back on the road before my sons senior pictures in a few weeks. He is wanting to us it in his pictures. He has put a lot of work into it himself. One day it will be his

Tweekers, sometimes you just want to hold your line, step on the gas and keep going straight. I think this was 1 of those times???

Problem is if you hit them the courts say it's your fault, they or their family takes you for everything you have.

[QUOTE=Ochre Ogre;7302431]Problem is if you hit them the courts say it's your fault, they or their family takes you for everything you have

i can vouch for this. my ex`s family is a bunch of pill poppers, tweekers and heroin addicts, they try to play the courts constantly, falling down at walgreens, getting cought stealing on purpose at walmart so they can say they were beat up, things like that. I know it sucks to say it but just be grateful noone got hurt.
I wouldda loved to knock them rotted teeth out though too

in south Carolina, if hes on a bike in the roadway he is bound by the same laws as cars... its a vehicle on the road just like a car and he would be libel for any damage if you hit him..

Re: Methmouth bike rider vs. 71 c10

Might be lucky you didn't "get your hands on him". My nephew had a tweaker come repeatedly into his neighborhood ogling the little girls (including his daughter)and making lewd comments, so he yelled at him to stay the h*ll off this road. Guy spit at him as he drove by wobbling on his bike.
Well nephew was having none of that so he chased him down and knocked him off his bike by tackling him. Came up with a knife sticking out of his chest. Air evacuation chopper ride to Phoenix and 4 hours open heart surgery including cracking his ribs open later they sewed him back up. Cops arrested the methhead, but told the family it was deemed a provoked attack. Provoked by my nephew.
One way to look at it is "it's only a few old car parts. Could have been wayyyyy worse.

Re: Methmouth bike rider vs. 71 c10

In Maryland bicycles follow the same road rules as cars, but they have the right of way... just like pedestrians. There is a new law where motor vehicles are now required to leave 3' of space. So, do we have head-on collisions or squeeze by the bicyclist and risk a ticket for entering their "zone"?

Yeah, could have been a lot worse. Luckily the curb stop me from going into the other full lane, and luckliy the peeps behind me were in new cars with newer brakes! Also, I could have killed the dude, and had to live with that.
