This is a very very old thread but researching the Sports Trim option interior and I do not think the carpet was Brown because that doesn't even make sense for a Fawn firewall pad and Charcoal seats. The photo appears to show charcoal carpet despite you referring to it as Brown and Lyle saying the same above. Would like to know what other related images and data you mightve collected over the years. Took me until 2022 to ever find one I could buy so I will be able to explore that one's interior very soon when I get it brought home. It appears to have Charcoal carpet

After decades of observations and studying literature, you learn to find out what what is correct and what is not. Unfortunately color photos in the early to mid sixties are rare, most are done in black and white. Add the rarity of the '66 GMC sports trim pickup, good color examples are really hard to find. Even the GMC ads focus on the seat, not the floor carpet. Here is one that came up recently, yes many trinkets were added on by the owner, but also shows the brown carpet in the center of floor, floor mats are covering the rest of the carpet.https://www.proxibid.com/1966-GMC-Pi...ation/67983999

Thank you for that clarity - after I questioned the Brown in disbelief, Jon Krogh sent me these also which show as absurd as it may seem, these had brown carpet. He surmised the Brown carpet was to tie the Dark Fawn vinyl seats with the goldish sheen of Fawn better. Probably wasnt a good Charcoal type color available in carpet in the 60's at all is my guess so with no supply Brown was much easier to source.

Re: Once and 4 all.......66' GMC Bucket seat question?

Guessing that longer cardboard gas tank cover we see in this pic isn't reproduced to cover the 22 gal tank some GMC's had either.

Re: Once and 4 all.......66' GMC Bucket seat question?

I looked for years for an original set of buddy buckets from a 66 GMC to put in my 66 Chevy but had no luck. I decided to build Phantom Chevy buckets from 2 custom comfort bench seats. Just my version of what Chevy might have put in the truck. Both seats can be adjusted separately. Now back to the brown carpet.

You get the A+ for creativity and design there - very cool looking and classy.

Re: Once and 4 all.......66' GMC Bucket seat question?

Rare ad from '66. Side note, 8.15-15 tires were used on 1/2 tons, tires used on 3/4 ton camper pickups ( lower photo) were 7.50-16. The new automatic was the new 3 speed Turbo-400 and the new 4 speed was the New Process 435.
