im sure all those other tires are fine, but if your mainly interested in playing in the mud get the swampers. allterains just seem like a waste of money to me.

A/T's are not even close when it comes to mud against Swampers.

Try runnin' Swampers in sand & see how far ya get. They're also worthless on ice, as are BFG M/Ts. Great in deep soft snow & thick mud, but in hard packed snow or real wet snow they're almost useless as well.

ATs are almost too aggressive for sand & are pretty decent on ice if they're siped. They're decent on many types of rock, as long as the rock is dry. In deep snow & mud, they're pretty well useless.

It all depends on what ya do & where ya wheel.

For my 4x4 burbs, I gladly run radial ATs or MTs and carry chains for muddy forest roads in hunting country. I leave the chains on the whole time off-road. Helps me tread lightly as well. Keep 'em on if towing on snowpacked roads, too. Safer that way.

For my FJ40, I run agressive tires and still carry chains for deep mud & snow. Not much stops the Cruiser with chains on. As the saying goes, if your stuck with chains on, you're really stuck.

I know golf cleats are best. LMAO

I've actually only driven on wet grass with all-seasons tires before. Would a/t's or mud's make it easier? Do people lose grip on grass when they run a really wide tire, like 12.5" or more?

Thanks anyways. I have a buddy who has a few acres who has 3-day long Canada Day parties. People camp out at his place from Friday until Sunday. Anyways most people have to park in his front yard. Last year 13 automobiles were parked there including 3 mid-size RV's. I've camped there in my parents 1993 Grand Caravan. I can go anywhere in his yard with it because it fortunately has barely enough ground clearance, but because it has all-season tires it often slips a bit and I have to rev the engine quite a bit to make it up some of the off-camber hills.

I don't have a truck yet, but I might be buying one soon and when I do I want some tires that'd grip better offroad. (and in his yard, lol)

Re swampers; I don't think he'd appreciate me removing his sod...

^ LOL, can just picture uncle with his swampers as he removes most of the sod from his buddys yard. A/T's would work good.

I know, and with several other cars in the yard, half the sod I rip up would be thrown on top of the other parked cars!

I'm impressed with BFG A/T's, both from good reviews and because it's one of the few all-terrain tires with a mountain snowflake symbol meaning it's rated for severe snow use. I'm also open to other a/t tires. (ie. pro comp, high-tec retreads etc.)

Would I feel a difference in grip on wet grass getting wider or narrower a/t's like 235/75R-15 vs. 33x12.5-15?

put an all season on it if it really bothers you that much. tires with large tread voids are going to pick up larger stuff and throw it.

i've got the 33/12.50/16,(305/70/16), pro comp mudders. haven't really put them to the test yet, but with a few k miles all looks good so far. they have extra siping in the tread that is supposed to keep them from getting clogged as easy as others..i bought them on ebay from nikkiw0212 for under $700 including free shipping. much less for 15's.

Im running 35x12.5x15 BFG All-Terrain KO's on my 91 and I love them. They get good traction in the mud or snow. But the are really quite on the highway un like mud tires and they are rated higher in wet weather. Mud tires most of the times want to hydraplane in the rain. These tires also are rated almost the same in the mud and snow as the BFG Mud-Terrains. I researched quite awhile before buying these tires looking at stats and ratings, along with other peoples thoughts before buying them. One guy at my work runs them also and has over 100,000 miles on his set and the still look preety new tread pattern and all. Well hope this helps go to the BFG websight and look at those and compare them like I did. The cheapest place I found to buy them was Sams Club I only paid $700 for all four mounted and balanced and that included my membership also.
