Hey Nik, I have been pretty good. Getting moved into the new place and getting over this bug going around. My grandpa passed away this week so I'm having a tough time with that. Going to get over and spend some time with my grandma next weekend.

I am currently lining up to move the panel the week of the 7th. Once I get it up here I can really fly at it like you As of late I have been picking away at some parts here and there. Right now I have been saving up some dough, I'm about half way to being able to afford the transmission conversion kit for the NV4500 to the 5.9. I figure if I'm going to put it in I'd better get to it now before I get the drive shafts, axles and shifters all installed. I'm hoping to have some meaningful updates in the near future. Thanks for checking in!

Thanks Nik

My brother in law is going to help me tow the truck to Port McNeill now that I don't have the Dodge anymore. We just have to get his truck going first....hahaha

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck

Big panel news!

The truck has arrived at my new place in Port McNeill! Pretty excited, still need to work on the space to best keep out the wind and the rain. Excited about making some progress happen. More to come soon

Cheers,

Thanks Nik, plans all went sideways with the trailering idea, so I shopped around for a tow and got it flat decked up and delivered, so nice.

On to progress!

Evening Gents,

Well I finally got some time on the panel this past weekend! I want to get all the GMC, Dodge and Cummins electrical blended together in the wiring department. I began re-routing the signal wires on the dodge harness, got them all wired up. I need to figure out the "signal" bit though, I'm ordering some LED signal and hazard relays and hoping that will get it working. I also got the horns bolted up and running, and a bunch of the other relays mounted as well. I need to round up some more wire loom and spend some time cleaning the rest of the harness. Still have a few things to hook up too: head lights, wiper motor, washer fluid pump and heater.

The day and night time runners, the LEDs go amber for the signal

I installed some LED bulbs into the gauge cluster as well

Spent some time on the shifter and linkage for the NP205, should be a smoother engagement

Man that 5.9 just fits in there hahaha

O and some new body panels I just put on order from Auto Body Specialists, coming from the East coast, but they were the largest quarter panels I could find shy of getting the whole bed side hahaha

Thanks for tuning in!

I'd like to know which signal relay you end up using? Since I've got LED signals as well.

Hey Nik, here are the flasher relays I picked up. I had a few minutes on my lunch break and I popped them in hoping it would just work.....no dice hahaha. Not really sure where the fault is, the beauty of electrical. I will definitely have to dig a little deeper into what's causing the issue.

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck

Evening gents,

Well loads of good news.... I have managed to sort out my signals all around! Double checked and cleaned all my grounds, added the electronic flasher relays and a resistor on both front signals. I also spent some time on the head lights and got them wired in and working as well. Rapidly shrinking the list of items to get wired in! I got the drivers side quarter panel patch pieces in the mail this week too, more to come on those as the weather warms up, it just won't stop snowing here. I will need to find or bend up some more steel for that job, 8' of patch panels 10 +' of truck hahaha.

Thanks Bill! We got it pretty good, despite the cold and the wet. Hahaha.

Good day!

I got some time on the truck today, decided to extricate the portion off the dash that I need to work on rather then removing the dash completely. I started by deleting the hole for the old clock as well as a smaller hole below that, then I moved on to fixing the radio location, it was hacked up. Couldn't really tell how bad until I fit the radio in. I patched that then re cut the hole for the radio, cleaning up the tuning knob holes and deleting a few other random holes. Don't think I got a photo up yet with the new radio, the wife got it for me last October.

Tomorrow I will be fitting the ash tray location with the Cummins message board and the clock delete area will be replaced with the 4X4 engagement indicator.

Thanks Nik! That radio is a repo from Custom Autosound, ordered it on eBay, it was a good price for a 300 watt system. All I really need hahaha.

Well another good day on the truck,

I continued work on the dash section, I fitted the Cummins message board. I did my best at re creating the fancy lip, I think it turned out pretty good. I also mounted the 4X4 indicator. Now I need to weld this section back into the dash, a project for another day. Thanks for tuning in!

Thank you Winslow! I really wanted to incorporate those couple of dash pieces from the Dodge and figure it would fit in with the direction I'm taking the build. I'm really looking forward to seeing how you put your gauges and dash together. Cheers man.

Evening guys,

Little more progress this weekend. Spent some time and welded in the dash piece that I have been cleaning up and reworking. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

Next I'm going to pull the seats, move them forward a few centimetres. Make it a little easier to get into the back hahaha. While the seats are out, I'm going to close up the remaining holes in the floor and firewall. More to come.

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck

Hey Guys,

Back on the panel this week. As planned I started filling in holes in the floor pan. 17 just around the drivers seat hahaha. I also moved the drivers seat up towards the dash 3", and will do the same on the other side. Next I moved onto the 3 point seat belt install. This is what I figured on for positioning, trying to keep belt out of the way for anyone trying o get into the back seats, when they get put in. Passengers side to go next.

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck

Those 3 point belts looks good, what are they from? I'm starting to think it might be a smart idea to go with shoulder belts rather than lap belts if I can find some that will work well in the truck without hacking the crap out of the inner roof panel.

Thanks Nik! They are out of my old 1992 Dodge, the great doner of parts for the project I'm hoping the angle I had to put on the retractor won't affect the locking function. There wasn't a lot of options to keep it out of the way for anyone getting into the back. There is an awesome step by step on the 60-66 Suburban area about three point belt install, helped a lot. They show how to install the fasteners into the regular cab b-pillar and floor. Any good condition belt out of pick and pull should be good. I spent some time cleaning my belt material with soap and water, couldn't believe the dirt that came out hahaha.

Re: 1963 GMC C30 panel truck

More progress this week!

I moved the passengers seat up to match the drivers. I also spent some time filling in all the holes on the passengers side.

Then I moved on to the 3 point seat belt for the passengers side. Went in easier after figuring everything on the drivers.

After the seat belt install, I patched up the shifter and parking braking holes in the trans tunnel cover.

I finished up the day patching around the mounting point for the stock accelerator pedal, looking to smooth it out for a better seal for the trans tunnel cover.

I think my compressor calved out today, it was making some bad sounds. Serves me right, it's only a small hobby compressor. Well I might be in the market for an appropriate sized one but still in 110v and portable. I was thinking 2hp +, with a 15 to 20 gal tank. I looked at a Ingersoll and Rand in a 2hp 20gal at KMS tools and the California Air compressor online. Any suggestions?
