72 Chevy model number

After looking at this thread with the production numbers and model numbers of 67-72 Chevy pickups, I'm thinking that some previous owner before me changed out the axles and Cheyenne fender emblems from 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton.

My 72 Cheyenne long box 4x4 pickup, the SPID matches the VIN on the pickup and is model KE10934, which is supposed to be a 3/4 long box 4x4. I know the 1/2 ton long box 4x4 is model KS10934.

My pickup has a 1/2 ton Dana 44 and 12 bolt rearend in it, and the fender emblems say Cheyenne10 on them. It says it had a factory posi in the rear as well.

I just think it was really stupid of whoever swapped them out for 1/2 ton parts. I hope at least they stayed with the same gear ratio that the pickup came out of the factory with.

Re: 72 Chevy model number

Thanks for the clarification!

Looking at the model numbers the way that they printed it, made it look different I guess since they made no mention of 6 cyl vs 8 cyl.

Question Re: 72 Chevy model number

So basically the chart with the years and model numbers is not a complete list of models in each year then?

Why didn't they list any KE10934 models in the 1/2 ton 4x4 long box with production numbers?
