Re: 383 rod recommendedations
Has anyone actually done this without needing a small base circle cam? I couldn't spin my engine over with the standerd cam.

Re: 383 rod recommendedations
With a standard base circle cam, you have to grind on the heads of the rod bolts and rods to achieve ~.050" clearance.

Re: 383 rod recommendedations
It really depends on the cam grind. Not gonna hurt to go ahead and order a small base circle cam especially if you're going roller. I would run the scar or eagle capscrew I beam rods as they I'll have more clearance up by the cam. The crank you have with a 3/8 cap screw rod and a sealed power h860cp (flat) or h859cp (dish) piston will make for a super easy balance job. They're usually within 10 grams... There are also plenty of pistons for a 6' rod but they will be forged. The 6" rod will have more cam clearance than a 5.7
