Not a big Toyota fan compared to old iron but like the idea, perfect powertrain that's bullet proof compared to American built and cool old style Gm body, thumbs up, hope it all works out. I like different projects that take a thinker to build.

Nice!.. How do you like the one piece windows? I'm struggling with buying a kit from a guy that didn't use it...

Got started on the patching of the front of the hood today... hope to get the rest of the metal work done tomorrow and get started on the finish work. About tired of screwing with this hood...

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Pulling wire mode today. Next up is score some hose line to see if the windshield washer system works. I'd like to see what I've got before I remove the LH dash panel components. Since I've owned this (1989) its never been hooked up, including a missing bottle. But it makes noise when I trigger it. I noticed the jets might be a bit clogged, could be why they disconnected. Will find out soon enough. 70/30 it works.

All new to me...........This is pretty cool. I've managed to avoid the windows and door latches so far (ha!). But I'll soon run out of parts to remove as I keep her running. Speak of, safe to assume I can remove the entire emergency brake system and still have brakes? Believe it or not, I've never even done a brake job outside a master cylinder and bleeding brakes...........Meanwhile, I'm taking this down to nuts and bolts.

Looks perfect. Let me know if I'm off base, but it seems the best way is to mount the inside of the bumper first, snug, not tight............line up the outer brackets, then tighten it all down.

Have to admit I butchered my rear bumper along time ago. Something wasn't right. When I tightened it down the brackets bent the bumper in places (whoops). Can't/won't happen again. I figure the brackets weren't positioned right.

I mounted the small brackets first on the frame ends and then the bumper to those. Then the outer brackets. Everything loosely until I had all the bolts in.had to trim the left bracket due to the power steering box.

Got my dash painted today. Now I can install it and start on the wiring, which is what I was planning on doing before I realized the dash needed to be replaced. One step forward.....

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Well, I'm currently in "ID that wire" mode for under the hood. Honestly, those who altered some things did a sloppy job, so I'm rebutting a few lines so they route correctly, even though its all going to be pulled and replaced. I'll have plenty good questions about what's correct Vs what's wrong................Will save that until after I ID what goes to what and where.

On a side note, the more "exposure" the more I realize there's really not much to the wiring. At least not on these trucks. That said, I haven't dove into the LH dash panel yet.

They are pretty straight forward and simple for the most part... I look under the hoods of new cars and trucks and run away in fear...

But I say its simple before I get to that point myself... Im sure there will be even less hair on my head when it all done...

More progress completed on the wood for the bed today. Routing and final sanding done - ready to apply the stain. Going for a reddish brown final color.

I like it. I haven't had any problems besides forgetting to glues the seal in. My wind wings were rusted out and the one piece window kit cost me less then buying a new set of wings so I saved money in the long run. And I can always switch back if needed. Thanks

How are you attaching your dash asides from the three bolts on either side, I assume you have left a portion of the sheet metal bare to "spot weld" it to the cowl section... Surprised you didn't paint that in the cab.
Have a good one,
Ben
