PPG Omni

Can I get some advice from someone who has used it? How easy is it to spray ? How good is the coverage and how easy is it to buff out mistakes? My truck is dark blue and white.

Re: PPG Omni

Because you are in Canada the Omni sold here is a low VOC version of the Omni sold in the USA. It won't cover very good so you'd be better off buying a top of the line base coat and using a generic clear like 5 Star Euro clear. Or consider a good single stage like BASE UNO.

Re: PPG Omni

Thanks. I was hoping it was okay as Lordco sells it and that would be convenient for me. I
I prefer something where I can get any supplies locally

Re: PPG Omni

White and Peters has a store in Coquitlam would benefit you with very experienced staff and tech support. I pretty know pretty much all the paint distributors in the lower mainland so PM me if you'd like to chat.

Re: PPG Omni

Last summer I used a medium blue single stage Omni from Carlson on a truck of my dads. We would have used a bc/cc but it was a budget build for a truck that was going to be driven and get chips and rust out again in ten years anyway. I found I had to over reduce it to get it to lay flat otherwise it would pile up droplets. I did match reducer and hardener to temp. It covered well. Don't take my advice 100%, I have done a half dozen decent paint jobs not high class but respectable. Kind of self taught to save money kind of guy. I'll try to find some pictures

Re: PPG Omni

This was 2 light coats and a full wet coat. We didn't have to buff any mistakes but the coverage was fine over light primer. I'll try to remember to get a picture of it next time I'm down there now that it's together again. I'll try to get a good shot of the hood in the sun. It turned out pretty good

I used to work for Carlson until recently and they don't sell PPG. I wonder what brand of paint you purchased?

No problem.
Uno is a great hiding single stage. It's what I'm using in my truck.

Re: PPG Omni

Yes. It did want to lay thick. I way over reduced it to get it to lay flat. We were happy with how it came out.

Re: PPG Omni

This Uno HD sounds like a decent single stage, please throw some more pics of that truck up if you get a chance, be great to see how it looks.
Thanks

It's in epoxy primer currently but should be seeing some color this spring.

Re: PPG Omni

You can see we didn't fix all the little dents inside the bed near the back. I jambed everything and then we put the truck together, then full paint. I'd say it's a real good paint to mix spray and leave it. Real easy to work with
