Been lurking a long time...finally have something to post....71 chevy stepside

so i have had this truck since i was 16 which is 32 years now. It was my daily in high school and how i learned about motors and racing. Before i received the truck it was my grandfathers and was used on his farm. the last time i drove it was 2005 and it has been sitting in my yard ever since. My son just turned 13 and i am using him as an excuse to put this truck back on the road. Now this will be a long project but i have a pretty good start on it. I was about to order a belltech lowering kit then i found the "grand slam" on CPP's website and am thinking about going that route. Please let me know if anyone has any experience with this kit or if there are other options i should look at. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum. Your story is like a lot of others here also. Looking forward to seeing the progress on the truck, and watching that young man get his hands dirty and work with dad. Enjoy it!

my 68 fleetside, I used the Grand Slam kit 5/7 drop, worked perfectly when I had a small block in the truck, went to 496 big block, had to change the springs on the front to 2" drop, I have the CCP modular spindles that give 2 1/2 drop

thanks guys. We made a little progress...cut some rust and made patches on the cowl. I have one more on the cowl to do and it should be complete, then on to the rockers and cab corners. I made my cab dolly so i can remove the cab and be able to work on it in the garage. lastly i have my truck intake smoothed and almost ready for paint.
