Corvette IRS with air

I've tried searching the forum for this with little results that I can find. Has anyone run a corvette IRS with air? If so I would like to hear or see some of the set ups

I'm thinking that is for the front on the c4... I'm not sure but all the porterbuilt setups I see on the rear are on a solid axle.

Yes, Porterbuilt has a Vette suspension. Here one he built a few years back.

Re: Corvette IRS with air

That's a wild setup... Pretty sweet looking! This leads to my next question. Is it set up that way because its designed to lay out? Could the bags be mounted like a shock setup and still get fairly low or is there an issue with doing it that way. My idea was to set it up that way but my buddy seems to think with the half shafts and 4 link set up that it would bend the links after the shafts reach a level plane.

Re: Corvette IRS with air

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it looks like the 4 link has swivel eyelets and that's why....does it push the wheels far enough outward at level plane that you would need to modify the fenders?

I guess I should have included that my installation would be on a 54 chevy.

I believe this frame Nate built for N2Billet. It was for a Chevy C10 pickup. Anyways Nate would be the person to answer all your questions.

Boss Hawg I bet they are backed up at the shop. I have seen several post of people that bought crossmembers from them in the last month. Be patient and he will get back to you. Hopefully he can help you out still.

I am... I'm not completely ready to do the rear yet I'm still researching so I have time. I'm still working on the front at the moment. I just like to make sure I'm at least close to being on the same page before I start something!

Nice looking set up! Is the front suspension cross member a pb made or is it a progressive or flat out one by chance?

All stuff I designed and built.

In regards to them being "available to order" we have just been too busy with everything else. There isn't a high enough demand to take the time away from building other products. Maybe one day we will have something similar that will be a production item. Just not anytime soon.

Re: Corvette IRS with air

I still wish I could go this route but the cost of the shockwaves put things WAY over budget. Still a sick setup.

I did some digging http://www.progressiveautomotive.com/sweetair.htm going by them you just need to make the upper mount.

I was wondering how low you could get though with that set up. I don't care if it lays frame. I noticed the porterbuilt set up is cantilever and the 4 link has hiem joints. I was curious is it had the hiem joints because of the half shafts pushing outward at a level plane? Would it bend the links without them if it were at level plane. And also if the fenders need to be modified with the half shafts at level plane on a 54 truck.
