Re: 1971/72 Chevrolet C10 Long Bed part out

Got at it a bit today...removed front clip for better view of the firewall area...and removed the MC and just used a hand wire brush to clean away the surface rust. Here are a few pics, the rest have not make it into my photobucket...I will post them tomorrow..

Re: 1971/72 Chevrolet C10 Long Bed part out

this thing really is in good shape guys, seen it yesterday in person, and all i gotta say is that it really is super solid, only rust through that i seen is the one spot in the front windshield roof area, and the inside kick panel area. didn't notice any other rust anywhere else from what i could see. this will be a good buy for someone for sure, heck i wish my burb was this clean

good luck with the sale Adam...

D.PASSMORE I am sorry I just do not have the time currently to take it apart and seel just the bed sides, will have to keep it complete...again sorry.

BillHilly I am sure we could work out a delivery there, as long as you can take care of gas and trailer cost...get me exact address so I can figure length of drive if you are interested!

Thanks
Adam

Address is 1400 Glenn Curtiss Street, Carson. Right on the corner of South Central Ave. Bedsides look great. So no real rust in the bed corners or anywhere? Couple more pics of the bed itself would be great. Wait and see what D.PASSMORE says. Thanks.
Oh, need a GMC stamped tailgate to go with this. Any ideas?

ok, cool. On Monday I will be removing the cab and unbolting the bed..and should be able to get more detailed pics for you. Might be able to help with a gate too...what year GMC gate are you looking for (small lettering or large) or does it matter?!

My truck is a '72 so yeah, large lettering.
The one other piece I was looking for was a transfer case cross member. I wanted to make up a skid plate deal and believe the origonal ones used basically two cross members.
Talk next week. Thanks.

Re: 1971/72 Chevrolet C10 Long Bed part out

And bed removed for more detailed pics also, did a wash down and discovered light surface on the floor. Under bed shots show well, and some of the undercoating is flaking off, so, I scraped a bit of it off to show nice original red paint! Stake pocket holes look great and front header panel in nice with a few dents....

Bed looks great. Let me ring the shipping guy again tomorrow to double check the details and then I'll get straight back in touch with you.

Re: 1971/72 Chevrolet C10 Long Bed part out

Any knowledge on the condition of the frame? is it straight (for an old truck)? does it show any signs of stress or any cracks or cuts anywhere? and have you still not sold that cab?

Sorry frame is gone....playing back and forth game on the cab and doors, distance I am sure is the main cause.

Re: 1971/72 Chevrolet C10 Long Bed part out

what a shame, if the cab was a 71 I would be up there this weekend to take it off your hands but my interest is slightly less being a 72 cab
