Carburetor 292 mystery

Hey y'all.

Been a while since I've been here but started to restore my 69 c30 again.

Pulled the Carb off with a # 7029021. Doing a little research found this Carb was originally meant for a 250 inline. Im confused as heck now. The 292 Carbs were supposed to be 7029012 and 7029022.

Also from reading in the shop manual the 292 Carbs have a thermostatic coil running into the carb?

None to be found on this particular carb. What the deal with the thermostatic coil. Am I screwed without it?

I want to buy a new carb and make sure I get the right part. What do you guys think?

Re: Carburetor 292 mystery

ok been doing more research and it seems my truck, 69 C30 292, had an auto choke. I dont see anywhere on the dash a choke might go.

So im going to order this carb from rock auto https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...026&cc=1033445

My question is this...Do i need this kit http://www.carburetor-parts.com/Mono...it_p_4128.html ???

Or should the thermostatic coil come with the carb? Where exactly does the electric kit go?

Re: Carburetor 292 mystery

Automatic choke would have a coil attached to the manifold like the one in this link.

Is yours there?

Those manifold choke coils are not available anymore. Go manuel choke.

Re: Carburetor 292 mystery

No, My Carb is definitely from a 250. The previous owners/users did lots of jimmy work on this truck so im still trying to figure this all out.

Called a few people and found out its not necessary to have the coil for the carb to run properly, its basically a cold start guarantee. I could put it on in the future if i feel its needed.

I ordered a new Rochester MV Carb with auto choke from California. Hard to find carbs for these trucks nowadays. Cant wait to put it together.

Quite simple.
Bolt the bracket to the intake or carb stud and hook up the linkage rod.
Instructions come with them.
