Absolutely! At first this was let's build a shop truck. But it wasn't long till it turned into a project specifically to develop the best chassis out there. There are already some great products available, but our goal was to provide a chassis and suspension that rides low and comfortably enough for your mother in law to ride in, but the same chassis has the capability to whoop it up on Camaros and Mustangs at the autocross and road courses, for example the Optima Ultimate Street Car Challenge. We dedicated a great deal of time developing the suspension geometry before we even pulled out the welders and believe it has better suspension geometry than any C10 chassis kit on the market. Re: Speedtech's Pro Touring C10 Project

This is static ride height. Wouldn't take much by way of bags to drop the rockers on the ground for those that dig that. "How low can you go..." Note that the frame rails and custom formed headers and exhaust are tucked up above the stock rockers so there's no issues with ground clearance through full suspension travel. For those that live in speed bump utopia, there's is plenty of travel to raise it up as needed via the coilovers. The additional parts such as headers will be available for purchase as well.

In these pics we hadn't adjusted the wheel base via the adjustable trailing arms yet but we wanted to get a few pics out in the sun before we continued...

Re: Speedtech's Pro Touring C10 Project

That about gets us caught up to where the truck is right now. I think pretty much everyone that works at Speedtech enjoys these trucks, loves what others have done with them and were excited to finally all chip in on getting our own project going.

While this one was under way we also bought a 55 short bed and designed mounts to put this same frame under it. We also have a regular customer that will be dropping off an early 50s and mid 6o's short bed soon to fit the frame to those as well. I'll post up progress as things roll along. Thanks for tuning in!

That is impressive fab work Ben. I think we all are eager to see how your chassis design performs on the track and on the street. That 55 will look *****in with that setup.

Re: Speedtech's Pro Touring C10 Project

Thanks for the compliments. We'll keep you all posted on progress.

Ron is super knowledgeable, having 35 years of building road race chassis and campaigning several winning race teams, it's great to have him backing this suspension.

Re: Speedtech's Pro Touring C10 Project

More updates...

We've got short billet solid body mounts on to help channel the body over the frame. As a result we're doing a little bit of fab work to help get the driveline angles correct. First part was building a new tunnel cover.

Next up was modding the back of the cab. This much clearance wouldn't have been necessary had we used factory height body mounts.

Re: Speedtech's Pro Touring C10 Project

Classic Industries is where all the panels came from.

And so the progress continues...

We're going for smooth and clean, so to match the flush glass and shaved drip rails we did a vent window delete kit. A bit of work to install but it's a great subtle change to the look of the exterior.

Re: Speedtech's Pro Touring C10 Project

In the engine bay Jeremy fabbed out some low key inner fender wells with hidden compartments up front. On the left it houses the air cleaner box, while the right houses all the engine management electronics.

Re: Speedtech's Pro Touring C10 Project

On this pic you can see the beginnings of the splitter and tow tab. The splitter doubles as a partial belly pan to direct high speed airflow under the truck.

Hexagon mesh fills the grille inserts.

Re: Speedtech's Pro Touring C10 Project

On to the interior...

Vintage Air supplied our HVAC unit, nicely tucked behind the glove box door.

What's a pro touring driver to do without some decent tunes? Our center console incorporates a down firing woofer...

... with plenty of amps to push it, incorporated as an exposed part of the rear interior panel.

We also wanted a modern feel to the design so we built it all around 2015 Sierra components and a pistol grip B&M shifter. Looks natural in there eh?

Re: Speedtech's Pro Touring C10 Project

Thanks Merc!

After getting all the little details worked out on the prototype frames production #1 frame returned from powdercoating here awaiting final assembly.

To make plumbing easy this frame has a pre-bent brake line kit option. It fits nice and snug and sure makes the install a cake walk. Tabs are all prewelded to the frame and the lines all fit perfectly.

Re: Speedtech's Pro Touring C10 Project

For a clean engine bay the battery box has been incorporated under the bed. Holes are tapped in the frame on either side for a battery mount. Had we run a really gnarly sound system we could have run dual batteries- one on either side, but we're trying to keep weight down so we opted for a single battery on the right side for better weight distribution.

Holes are also predrilled for our Rick's custom tank and straps. Install was quick and painless.

Re: Speedtech's Pro Touring C10 Project

Custom frame mounts are included, in our case we opted for a 525 hp GM crate LS3 and the stands give the engine just the right position to work around steering and crossmembers.

On this build we wanted it to be a super comfortable drive to events so we decided to forgo the man pedal and went with a 4L65 auto. Crossmember getting into position and final assembly.

Re: Speedtech's Pro Touring C10 Project

Here's a cool option, the ATS road race LS oil pan allows for a remote oil filter and the frame is pre-drilled for mounting it on either the right or left side. Super easy to incorporate a cooler in there too.

PS and oil lines routed around Unisteer rack and pinion steering.
