3" Lowering springs?

Forum members I have recently installed a set of ground force 3" lowering springs. The truck really looks good with them on. The issues is that it seemed to have dropped the truck more than 3". Why is that? I measured before I installed them and I had gap of 4.5" from the tire to the edge of the fender. The tire is currently sitting inside the fender by .5". I was trying to get the truck fenders right above the tire. I had figured that I was going to have to cut these springs to make that happen, but really surprised me when it dropped 5" with 3" lowering springs. Any thoughts? Maybe a will re order a set 2..5" lowering springs. That should out me where I needed to be. Just afraid that 2.5" will raise me up more that .5", since my truck dropped 5" with 3" lowering springs.

Re: 3" Lowering springs?

I frequently hear this complaint from 73-87 owners. My suggestion is to go with 3" spindles and cut your stock coils, or use 2" springs. If your running 15" wheels be aware that the spindles may cause clearance issues depending on brand.

Thanks for the reply. I have 19" wheels on the front. With 2.5" spindles and 3"drop spindles by ground force. Originaly I did go with the 2.5" spindles and cutting two coils off the stock springs and that dropped me to low. Tires fell inside the wheel well by a inch and the tires got stuck inside the wheel wells when I did turns, literally at times stopped the truck. Depending on the turn and speed. The sharper and faster turns were bad. Stopped the truck to tell you the truth.
