The bolt/pin will most likely have a set up like a tow hitch where you pull the lock out then the pins and can lift the whole front end off after tilting it.

If you want, it will most likely be pretty easy to do, I could probably slap a second set together after I do mine.

2 minute drawing..

Thanks 73..... as you can see in the above picture.... a previous owner started to make a tilt-mount for the front end.... I'll take some close up pictures of what's been done so far for you to see if the ideas you have for mounting your tilt front end will work or can be adapted to mine.... thanks again....

Re: Ever wonder what that fiberglass front end saved you weight wise?

Hey does anyone have any pictures of a 73-87 tilt nose setup finished? looking for how well they fit to the doors etc..

Also, does anyone have the tilt setup that tilts down then slides back to the cowl?

Thanks,
Jon

The USBody pieces are made long on the ends so you can sand the finish to the best gap.

Re: Ever wonder what that fiberglass front end saved you weight wise?

yeah I am familiar with that after helping with my friends car.

My main concern is the fit to the contour of the doors as well as how everyone is securing the rear lower portion of the fenders/wheelwells to stop them from vibrating and getting stress cracks

The lower section screws to the firewall, it lines up just like the original fender.

Re: Ever wonder what that fiberglass front end saved you weight wise?

Hey all I picked up a sweet 1 piece tilt nose this weekend. It has a real trick set of hinges that extend forward about 18" so I can keep the fenders 1 piece.

Not sure of the weight of it yet but its def much more durable than most race weight noses.

Unfortunately its the newer 83+ nose and I was originally lookin for the older 73-79 nose for the truck.

Re: Ever wonder what that fiberglass front end saved you weight wise?

I clicked on the pic and it shows 3 picks in total and two of the hinge. But it keeps scroling so I can't get a great look at it.

Any chance you can mention where you got the hings and better pics?

Re: Ever wonder what that fiberglass front end saved you weight wise?

Hey guys, thanks for posting those pics better. I tried a few different ways and figured a slide show would be best.

The pics with the nose mounted to the truck is the truck it was on before I bought it. It was a 2wd k5 blazer pro street truck. The gentleman I bought it from wanted to put a steel nose on it to make it safer for when he drove it on the street with his wife and daughter.

As for the hinges I am not sure who makes them yet. He didn't know much about the origin either as they were on the truck when he purchased it last year.

Later on down the road I may be designing a newer beefier set of hinges (the grey pieces) because this nose is going on a tube chassis monster truck. Not sure the 1/4 brackets will be up for the punishment.

I have an appointment with a guy who builds fiberglass molds this weekend to see how uch it would cost to make me a mold of the nose so I can replace it easily if/when the truck is rolled over

It's a little easier to make a mold from a 1 piece because there are no seams to worry about which takes more labor to conceal I guess.

Oh and the front roll pan is actually steel that was nicel molded to the nose to give it a real clean look.

Re: Ever wonder what that fiberglass front end saved you weight wise?

I was directing that at bigoates.
Some people put the pics in a slide show hoping to "hide" the direct links to the pics from others, and generally don't like them being exposed.

The suspension looks like a fatman Mustang II

Re: Ever wonder what that fiberglass front end saved you weight wise?

I sold the front end to another member on the board. Last time I drove the truck it weighed 3,120 with me in it, full 16ga fuel cell and full 15lb N20 bottle.i weighed 202lbs at the time.

That is:
No inside of the bed
No front bumper
No hood
Inner fenders cut up some
CM back half and cage
Glide
Alum LS with Super Vic intake and N20 plate
Summit racing seats
Factory doors
Factory glass and regulators
Mustang 2 spindles
Wilwood brakes on all 4 corners
9" rear

I don't know how tough it would be on the full size . but I'm about to take on Lexan swap in the wing and side windows and the factory tracks that still roll up and down.
