Rocker boxes

How solid are the rocker boxes?
Im looking to mounts some steps on my blazer and dont seem to have many options other than directly to the rocker boxes... I thought i would have some 3/8 plate cut for both in and outside of the box and sandwich it together for added strength... should that cover it or do i need to go a step farther and run the outside plate over and bolt to the frame for extra strength?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Rocker boxes

Depending on what type of step you're going to use a couple self tapping sheet metal screws into the rocker box would probably support a step just fine although I'd probably use a fastener with nut and washer. The reinforcement you're considering would probably be overkill even for rock sliders.

Re: Rocker boxes

Thanks for the reply... I was thinking that too but id rather build overkill than damage something... but glad to hear they are pretty solid without the extra support.
