1972 chevy cheyenne 4x4 axles??

Hi all, I just acquired a 72 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 cheyenne 4spd manual. I checked my axles to see if I had a dana underneath and to my surprise is had no dana id. It is a 10 bolt pattern with round pumpkin, but can't find any info. GM 10 bolt??

Any help/ resources would be great!

Re: 1972 chevy cheyenne 4x4 axles??

Stock would have been an open-knuckle disc-brake 44 in front with a 12-bolt rear. The brake setup is specific to 71-72 trucks and the shafts have 260X u-joints (smaller) instead of 297X joints (larger 73+).

Check this link for diagrams to help with identification. It is possible that a previous owner swapped out the 44 for a 10-bolt since they will bolt up without modification:

Should have the Dana 44 and an Eaton rear, maybe a Dana 60 rear. But if it's a 10 bolt front, it's been changed.

Whoops, missed the 3/4 part. Most likely an Eaton HO52 rear, the D60s seemed to show up more on the 2wds.

Re: 1972 chevy cheyenne 4x4 axles??

OK, after some research, I do indeed have dana 44 on front and ho52 on rear. I am doing a ground up on this truck and see that there are very few parts for the ho52. I was thinking about a 14 bolt on the rear. Has anybody done this swap and if so what are the mods that I can expect?
