Smile New, from So cal

I recently rescued a 1969 shortbed K10 from a southern california field. Thankfully it is about 90% original wheels and seat have been redone at somepoint in its life. Got it running last week. Hoping to drive it before end of summer.

Rust is surface for the most part. Driver cab corner is only small hole i have found. The drip rails are crusty too. The truck was actually driven until 2011.

Will post pics tomorrow. Needs an exhaust, tires, and the transfer case and driveshafts put back in.

I have heard that if you take a piece of wood, and use C-clamps to hold it to the under side of the drip rail. You the use a torch, and clean wire brush to clear out the rust. Afterwards you can float in lead or lead free body solder to fill in the gaps nicely.
