Re: Work begins on the 1962 C10 4WD

New front shackles pins and bushings going in at the rear of the front spring. It was a little bit of a pain getting the bushing in the frame out but not as bad as I have read on here. Hopefully the other side is the same.

Re: Work begins on the 1962 C10 4WD

Does anybody know where I can get the front greasable bolt for the front leafsprings?
LMC has them for 109.00 each. They dont seem to be a normal size greasable bolt?

Re: Work begins on the 1962 C10 4WD

Help Please. I HATE to have to spend 200 dollars for 2 bolts!!

Has anybody come up with a solution or substitute for this bolt? It's the front leaf spring, front eye bolt. I found a place that has them for 90.00 dollars each. LMC wants 109 each plus 27 dollars shipping for 2 bolts ( WTH?) They don't seem to be a normal size greasable bolt and have to fit the bronze bushing.
Thanks , Jeff

Re: Work begins on the 1962 C10 4WD

You may want to check to see if the front pin for the rear spring is the same as the one for the front spring. They are much less expensive. I know Classic Parts of America sells these parts and also try Rare Parts Inc.

I got lucky and was able to re-use my front pins.

Re: Work begins on the 1962 C10 4WD

Some more pics of a very slow progress. The floor is done and its running. New core support and body mount bushings. The engine is 100% rebuilt /zero miles. We have 4 doors but none of them are in good shape. Gonna have someone else weld on new, lower inner and outer door skins. I did all the other welding myself so far.

Re: Work begins on the 1962 C10 4WD

OK been a while. A lot of work has been done. Now searching for shifter boots and trim rings. I can find the original shifter boot and trim ring but nothing for the transfer case. I see some people are using 67-72 transmission boots and trim rings and 71-72 x-fer case boots but I cant find any trim ring for this either. what is everybody doing? I do not care if its original. I would like each boot to atleast resemble each other. Trim rings also. Used is ok also.
I have searched all over the forums and internet for answers.

Re: Work begins on the 1962 C10 4WD

Another orange truck being built! sweet. I am ashamed to say that I haven't gotten anything done on mine in years but plan on going orange and black vs the orange and white but there for awhile you never saw any orange trucks around. I love the skinny tires on newer OEM wheels, I have a set of those myself but think I might go for the base truck steel wheels from a ram I also have laying around. Good work man I can't wait to see it together out in sunlight.
