Edelbrock 35770

I was fiddling around with my truck last week. I am to the point where I really don't like driving it, because I cannot get the carb adjusted properly. So, to remedy that, I decided to order the fuel injection kit.

Now, I have to figure out what kind of fuel system I want to put on. I am looking forward to getting rid of that stupid carb. I'm open to any and all suggestions on the fuel systems.

Thanks.

Re: Edelbrock 35770

That stupid carb, is a lot simpler than an FI unit...

A lot of "carb" problems are ignition and timing related. So if you don't have those things dialed in, the FI might not be the upgrade you expect.

But, the beauty of the self-learning FI kits is that the are pretty reliable once they are tuned and running right.

I'm just an old carb guy that loathes all the newfangled FI stuff. So you can excuse my post if it sounds like a rant.

You old ranter Gary!
Same way I look at it.
If you can’t get a simple carb engine to work, how will you get a fi to work.

Re: Edelbrock 35770

No offense taken . I have never had anybody teach me anything about carbs. I am a "doer" type learner rather than a reader type. So without a teacher or instructor, it's a bit difficult.

I used Geezer's help early on to get the timing all squared away, so I am fairly confident that timing is not a issue. I am more comfortable with the fuel injection than I am with carbs.

Re: Edelbrock 35770

Carbs are simple devices.
They’re just slightly controlled fuel leaks is all.
I know you got your mind set, but what carb and what problems?
And still don’t rule out timing.

Re: Edelbrock 35770

i am guessing you have a 1973-1987 body truck / blazer / suburban .

1987 tbi spec tank for your bed length of truck .
1987 tbi sender minus pump .
1996 c3500 350 vortec spec intank pump .
clip pump on to 1987 sender inplace of the tbi pump that would be there and install sock for the 1987 also on the pump .

run a 3/8" feed line pressure rated to efi specs of say 60 psi . and a 5/16" return back to the tank sender .

get the return regulator kit for the edlebrock pro flo 4
17400 = 43 psi system needs .
17401 = 58 psi system needs .

then a good relay kit for the fuel pump power feed as its a negative triggered system for the fuel pump and electric fans .

my truck is running fine with this combo for over 600 miles now . i have a brand new vortec L31 engine from gm with it and its got 500 miles before the pro flo 4 system .

when doing the fuel lines at the sender make sure you know how to do high pressure fuel system connections . i used a dorman fuel line kit with compression to barb and nylon lines with quick connects like o.e.m. used now . then i found a set of an to quick connect adapters .

i love it so much i had my own sticker made up for it out of a older efi sticker they use to make .

Re: Edelbrock 35770

I got my package today and started taking to the old part off. I lifted off the old manifold and found this. I'm effed..... That a Lunati retrofit roller cam. I looked down the lifter bore and I could see that the lobe was grooved. So much for bolting on this new bit of kit. Looks like i will be having to shell out for a new engine. I have photos, but can't post them.
