kick panel/Rocker replacement question

I have been working on getting a floor patch/kick panel and rocker replaced on my 66..got to a point that i have a question to see if others have had this issue...On the repop pieces, they dont fit like gloves as we all know...My issue im having is with the kick panel..where it curves and meets up with the inner rocker does not lay flat...this causes the outer rocker to hang up and not be able to slide over that area. I was wondering if anyone else dealt with this and what they did to remedy it...since it will end up inside the outer rocker, i wonder if you can just take that piece off of the kickpanel. Ideally, would be to cut weld etc to get it to lay flat, but i dont see how you can do that on the curved edge.

Re: kick panel/Rocker replacement question

what would happen if you raised the kick panel?.....I'm not sure how it fits so just asking....is it supposed to be sitting on the floorboard or in the location you have it....

its against the floor board and fits well everywhere but there...the holes all line up in the floor support etc so i feel its in the right place, just a typical repop situation...its interferring with the rocker in the area of my small circle...

Re: kick panel/Rocker replacement question

gotcha....may be one of those "cut to fit" pieces....did you compare it to the piece you cut out?

Re: kick panel/Rocker replacement question

If you haven't, check out Gibson63's videos on YouTube, he rebuilt the same area on his C10. Here's one of one of them, it may provide the answer ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YBq2_idLfA

I find his videos great to watch, both informative and entertaining.
