Has anyone here used the one that LMC sells?

You can probably straighten yours and paint it and have a better part than a newer one from LMC or anyone else.

Hey Roger I put one on my sons 1972 the thing is these are made of steel were the factory are aluminum so it does make them harder to work with. When we removed our grill mounting brackets from the old grill we slotted all of the holes that mount the grill to the truck(not to the grill its self) and made sure it fit the truck just like we wanted before painting the grill or the truck itself but was happy with the results.

Re: 71/72 paintable grill surround

the one we took off had several dents along the top edge (where it lines up with the hood when closed). It had a few others as well. I sold it for $180 locally with the old insert that had a piece missing... my son had tried working some of the dents out, but that was taking time away from finishing the paint on the truck.... we may just get one from lmc and work with it as Tim mentioned.... still a bit before we need it though.....
