67-72 Suburban and Panel production numbers

This is a list of production numbers taken from a book, that is often quoted here in the forum. I have removed the Pick ups, chassis only, and 1 tons. Purely for the Suburban and Panel truck owners, wondering roughly how many Chevrolet Suburbans/Panels were produced (GMC not included).

This information is from the "standard catalog of American Light-Duty Trucks, 3rd edition".

Some really low production numbers on some models.
Thanks Mr Vectorit. Are those numbers GMC and Chevy combined?

Are these all 3-doors? Did they make 4-door versions this year?

67-72 Suburban were 3 door only.
67-72 Panel were 2 door.
Four door Suburban's didn't come around until 1973.

There are no known GMC production numbers to be in existence at this time, it can be estimated that about 1 GMC existed for every 4 Chevy versions of that model.

Wow, the weight seems a bit off to me? a no ups and extras stripped down 72 burg is only 3,800 or so pounds?????? I weighed one of mine on a road trip on a certified scale, 2 adults and a baby (and a 50 lp mini tool kit.....) and came in at 5800 lps......

Re: 67-72 Suburban and Panel production numbers

Thanks for the information! I had just looked this up online when I purchased a 1968 K10 4x4 Panel, I was very surprised there were only 58 produced. I think they only had barn doors in 68. If not it is a V8 4 speed barn door. I was going to make a race car hauler with Yenko graphics and do some mods, but with the rarity, it is now staying stock.

Re: 67-72 Suburban and Panel production numbers

Can anyone shed some light on this.
It is for sale near me and I'd like to know
if it was ready made by the general, or
if the back windows were just covered up.

Hey Jack,
That was on here recently....here's the thread.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=672821

If this doesn't hot link then copy and paste to your address bar or scroll through until you see "CL Maryland half burn/half panel" or something like that a few pages back.

Cheers,
Rob

Re: 67-72 Suburban and Panel production numbers

Looks like the back windows were just covered up. The panel trucks only came with two doors. Suburbans came with three, unless I'm mistaken. I wouldn't mind pickin this up for that price even just to part out into my own burb. I like the hoods on these too. Has a little more slant than mine.

I just bought a 72 Chevrolet Suburban 3/4 ton 2wd with fold down tailgate.
It appears by the numbers posted above (copied below) that my truck is 1 of 3141... am I reading that correctly?

Yes, and my 4x4 (gate) would have been 879 made.

There were 3x as many made in 1/2 ton. Although it seems the 3/4 ton survived more.
