Air Ride / Parking Brake cable

I bought my 68 with air-ride already on it. I noticed that the parking brake cables were cut / gone so I started ordering what I need.

As I get under the truck finally I notice _why_ they were not there. The air-ride tank is in the way for the drivers side cable.

Has anyone done air-ride and kept the parking brake functioning? Did you relocate anything, or put the tank in a different spot?

I am on the fence of even keeping the air-ride on the truck as it is not the best look with switches and gauges in the cab - but I may do a console and put them in there. I think it is cool, don't get me wrong, but a static drop has always been a great ride for me in my previous vehicles and it is a clean install.

Thanks for any insight and advice!

Re: Air Ride / Parking Brake cable

The 82 or so to 87 C 10's had a long passenger side brake cable that routed to the driver side, next to the existing cable, you could do something like that and those factory cables should fit the 12 bolt rear end. Just swap the cables to passenger side.

Can you make a cable fit around the air ride equipment using rollers brackets for the cable?

Re: Air Ride / Parking Brake cable

Hi Randy -

Thanks for the insight! I am going to look at both ideas when I can get the truck back on the lift.

Maybe I can find some used cables to test fit with...

I used a wilwood cable kit on mine, they are extra long so you can cut them to fit and they are more flexible so easy to route around obstacles.

Re: Air Ride / Parking Brake cable

I have the stock parking brake setup on my suburban thats bagged. I dont have a step notch that could be a issue.

My air tank is behind the fuel tank. Same as a truck lots.of room back there for it
