125,000 Miles on Factory Tires

My 2017 Chevy Colorado has just turned 125,000 on my factory tires.

Goodyear Wrangler - I'm sold.

Wow. That’s impressive! My story was different on Goodyear wranglers, I only was able to squeeze 40,000. miles out of a set. To be fair though, I’m not trying to make them last. Big difference in how how long they last based on you treat them. I’m the same with shoes, my friends will get a couple of years out of a pair... if I get 6 months I feel lucky.

I cannot see the tread from that far away ,,but ,,but ,,but are you sure ? I have 29,000 on my 2017 GMC and the tires are either a bit under or a bit over half way used up

My 99 had around 165000 on the original set ..still had decent tread but when I backed over the corner of the bush hog one night,i put a triangle shaped hole in one, so I went with a full set....never had any others come close..

I bought the tuck with about 10,000 miles on it. I drive a lot of highways and always rotate every 5,000 miles. So yes they do have a tab over 125,000 miles.
The tread has 5/32 left and I am in process of purchasing new tires - Goodyear of course.

Which Wranglers?

You sure put a heap of miles on that thing in two years. That truck must be light on it's feet. What I drive are 3/4t trucks with weight in them. So, no dreams of such long life out of tires here. I run only quality tires and I also rotate every 5,000 to keep wear even. I bought a new '87 Samurai for my wife she drove to nursing school for three years. She put 70,000 miles on it while we had it and the tires still looked almost new. I figured it was the light weight. Never needed any brake work either

I have never had much luck with the Good Years either, they seem to wear pretty fast. I think the dirt roads and hauling and fast speeds of my lead foot ten to help the wearing out.

Well dang. I have goodyear wranglers on the 2015 Z71 Silverado I bought brand new. It has 37K on it now and I have maybe another 5K left on them.... I have never rotated them. Aside from a little extra wear on the turning edge, they're pretty much the same tread depth front to back.

My wife's Mustang when we bought it brand new in 2010 came with a set of Pirelli's on it that barely made it to 30K. It has 70K now and on it's 3rd set of tires.

They say that a tire is worn out when they get down to 2/32 ..thats what I used to wear them down to when young and not married. and poor... another thing is some tires start out with 11/32 and others 10/32 ,,depending on where one drives at ,,that 2/32 adds up to more miles..

Them ranglers must be hard rubber tires too.. Thanks for the info ..I will look into them next set I buy.. I drive about all highway

My tires dry rot way before total tread loss, very common for my area according to the local tire guys. The most I've ever seen is maybe 30-35,000 miles

My wife's 2010 AWD Traverse went 110,000 on the factory Bridgestone's and actually could have gone further, but winter was coming so we opted to replace with the same OEM tires and they are on target for about the same life span as the first one's. And better yet the OEM brake pads went the same mileage and had plenty left when we replaced them with OEM pads at the Chevy Dealer.

What I was told is on an AWD vehicle that the correct operation of the clutches and computer are a big key player in the high mileage's.

The one down side to an AWD vehicle is a bad tire or road hazard means you buy 4 tires.

I think the BEST I ever got on my full-size was a set of Michelin's that went like 60K, but they look like girly truck tires, so I normally run BFG's which are good for 40-45K.

My only thought is that up in the northeast snow and wet road conditions and cold temps could help save a lot on tire wear. In the southeast (and assuming southwest) it's always hot, it was 90+ for MONTHS this year, rain is quick and goes away, and no winter could be why our tires don't last as long. The hotter the driving surface, the more grip, the more wear?

I had a set of Michelin's go a little over 100,000 miles. As stated all highway miles, well 90% plus rotation every 5,000-10,000 miles. Carry very little weight.

I buy Michelins too.. I have been told that the moisture in the rubber dries out over the years is one why one needs to replace tires ,,but in your case you run the heck out of them in two years and that is not problem is it?

Must be all pavement. Gravel/dirt roads chew up tires pretty fast but I'd rather that than living around people

My 2017 Sierra has almost 40,000 miles and I think I might get 50k out of the stock Goodyear’s.

Best luck I ever had was a set of Michelin all terrains on my 1997 4Runner. They had 110,000 miles on them and at least another 10-20K left but I was ran off the road by a log truck in August 2005 and the rig was totaled.

Yeah. Don't you get tired of looking at the same old tread with the same old letters on the side of the tire? What do you do with all the time you don't spend gazing at tires online, at Walmart, and tire shops?

I'm probably going to get lousy miles from the tires on my truck, simply because we use it only a little, for hauling lumber and plywood, with the occasional camping trip. They are already a year and a half old. Those are the kind of tires that you want complete confidence in when pulling a trailer in the mountains. Ahh well, it's only money.

I feel good if I get 20k miles from the fronts on my 98. Rears dry rot before I can get 50k on them. Rotation? Ha! They are always directional and different size front and rear. Rotating isn't an option.

I think highway and no weight are the game changers here. Turning is very hard on tires, and obviously weight puts more load on them.

I got 335,000 miles out of the spare on my '92 K3500. Tread still looked brand new, no wear showing at all.

Ok, now I get it. So you bought the truck and first thing you did was get custom wheels and tires. You tossed the originals in the bed and they're still there two years later because you never haul anything.
