Random Tailgate Emblem Question

This is the emblem I have on my tailgate (left picture), I noticed some of the NOS and aftermarket emblems I've seen online (right picture) don't have the loops, for lack of a better term, on each end. Did they stop the loops on certain years or anyone know why some have them and some don't?

Re: Random Tailgate Emblem Question

My initial thoughts were 73-74 as well but the parts catalog shows part number 14016628 covers 73-78. Just doing a quick Google search of that part number comes up with emblems without the 'loops'. Thanks guys

Re: Random Tailgate Emblem Question

I am absolutely sure it is 73-74. All I do for a living is sell parts for these trucks. GM probably just kept the same part number. For that matter the emblem without the loops actually went to 1980
