Good deal!! You could always drill a hole and attach a dust buster or other cordless vacuum to it. Then it would collect all the dust to.

Hmmm...good idea! Grandson was pushing it around today at warp speed and it help up.

In 1997, I had a small section concreted along the wall for shelving and my daughters put their handprints in the wet material. Then 21 years later, my Granddaughters did the same in the new cement. Frankly, that gives me a good feeling.

It sure is. I can’t believe 21 years has gone by.

The guys were back today to fill in around the door frames that were built in for the new roll up doors. Since I wanted the metal to match the rest of the building, the corrugated metal from the door was removed.

Re: Shop improvements and upgrades. Better Space!

They cut the metal to size and used it on the door frame. They also said corrugated metal that is this heavy and zinc coated isn’t available today, so it had to be reused.

Re: Shop improvements and upgrades. Better Space!

This side is finished out except for the door seals. They will finish up the back door tomorrow. Next up will be bringing the shelving, car trailer and vehicles back in. Selectively so it doesn’t get jammed....at least that is the plan.

Thanks Greg! It does give the shop a better look...and so much more convenient than rolling and latching the old door closed.

I thought this was kind of a cool pic...transition from old to new. That door had hung there for 50 years.

Re: Shop improvements and upgrades. Better Space!

I actually left my old slider mounted after I got the roll up installed. I have even used it on a few occasions when they call for high winds or hurricanes. I figure it will take a little more abuse and is less costly to repair if something flew into it.

They did make it look really consistent with the rest of the building. Good guys that know what they are doing.

That would give more protection. I was going for lazy and convenient.

The metal pulled from the doors had an overlap that was never painted nor exposed to the elements. The zinc looks nearly new even though it is 50 years old.

So the overlap is by the back door and I decided to not paint it, showing what the building looked like when new. Kind of like the strip of bricks on the start finish line at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Yeah, it is filling up already and I still have the metal rack and a 48 truck cab to stuff in there.

With the South and the East doors open, there is usually a nice breeze that gets funneled through making a nice place to take a break. That I did yesterday, hoping those storms to the South would track a bit more North and bring some rain. They didn’t....getting so dry.

Thanks Rob!

Next on the list is to place white gravel (we call it Chet rock) around the base of the building and in the drive to the back door. Holding off until it dries up. Geesh, we went from almost drought conditions to river flooding around here.

Re: Shop improvements and upgrades. Better Space!

So I had the bucket truck out for repairs on the house and took this pic of the shop. It is coming together, though I need to move the old fuel oil tanks somewhere else. And put the white gravel around the base.

Re: Shop improvements and upgrades. Better Space!

And we have bats, leaving droppings over everything in the back of the shop. This was an hour after I cleaned this area up. Frustrating....
