Thinking about a Cummins Swap
I'm thinking about putting a cummins in my 67 that I made into a K30. Can I use a dodge transmission or do I have to switch over to a chevy transmission? Thanks in advance!

Re: Thinking about a Cummins Swap
Agreed. Not sure what year Cummins or if you want automatic or manual, but the newer stuff gets kind of hard to manage if you are staying 4wd.
The nv4500 is really popular because they were also found in chevy's. Any 4 speed automatic (or 5 gear, 6 gear...) transmission requires some form of computer (except the 700r4, but I can't imagine you are going to put that on a cummins), which might be easier to use a newer cummins motor. You can literally buy an adapter plate for pretty much any transmission you want to run. Ford, Dodge, GM are all supported, but they aren't cheap. I see them usually around $800. Most transfer cases aren't going to work due to the drop being opposite of a lot of newer applications.
