2003 Center Console Lid Repair
Hey guys, I'm hoping that someone has some experience with this. 2003
 Silverado center console lid hinges are completely busted. The lid won't sit flush on the console. LMC offers both a hinge repair kit and a complete lid replacement. A couple questions; Has anyone actually purchased and used either of these items? If so, what do you think about it? The hinge repair kit description states that instructions are included. Wondering if someone who has these instructions can scan & post them here? I may be able to piece this thing back together with all the little parts laying around. Thanks for your help!

I did mine about a year ago.. Its really allot easy than the direction describe.. Youtube is full of videos on this repair.. Takes less than 15min..

I have purchased the replacement lid but Not from LMC as there prices are usually to expensive.
The Dorman product is fairly close to the original. 1 thing I would recommend is loctiteing the nuts on the latch before assembly. The last one I used the nuts came loose and the lid would not latch. I had to disassemble the lid assembly which can be difficult to do and not break anything. |

I'm thinking about getting the Dorman lid and the repair kit to preempt future issues. Is the repair kit a better hinge than the original?

Hope these help.
Mine is dark grey. Aka Very Dark Pewter. You can find them on ebay and even Craigslist for $100 or less. I believe a paid around $85 shipped on the last one I purchased. |
