Question 62 1/2ton automatic trans what rearend ratios??

62 1/2 ton automatic trans what rearend ratios came stock? and they are front chunks are they the same as 55-57 chevy passanger cars?

You might be lucky and have 3.38 gears, but most of the '55-'62 trucks had 3.90 gears. No the Eaton HO32 is not the same as the '55-'64 car differential. The Eaton HO32 was used from '55 second series thru '62 in the 1/2 ton trucks.

62 Impalas had 3:08 with automatic and 3:36 with 3 on the tree.

Thank you. I was told I can check the ratio by somehow marking the tire and the trans mission yoke and turn tire. not sur of the process if you have any info that would help please send.

Why not just pull the cover and have a look. I almost guarantee that the oil needs changed. It'll just cost you a cover gasket, a couple quarts of gear oil and a little time. Then you'll know exactly what gears you have and the peace of mind knowing that your differential has fresh oil and what the condition is inside.

Actually, I think that statement only applies to cars with the 250HP 327...

No cover it is a front chunk rear end.

The '55-'62 Eaton HO32 differentials have both a removable 3rd member and a rear cover.
If it doesn't have a removable rear cover it is not an original differential to your truck.
