Re: Let See Seats On Your 55-59 Truck

3rd Row Seats out of Chevy Suburban, very comfortable and gives extra leg room for us long legged people.

Orrie, I really like your seats but I'm wondering what's going on behind them with the plywood and the cutouts? They seem too big for just speakers.

Also, since your seat bottoms fold forward & give you nearly full access to the space under the seat it makes me think that if the spacing of the seat support frame and those rods had been planned right, you MIGHT be able to find some shallow plastic bins that would just drop in and work to keep things from rolling around. Any plans to make wood or fiberglas storage bins for those areas? Just an outstanding job on your install!

Thanks I look forward to see it finished. Mine is a 56 and still has the original red and white paint. It is a driver and I am working on a frame with a camaro sub and nolimit 4link with frame mounted fuel tank.

Nice - how do you like them? Are they a direct bolt in replacement?

I assume you went with the springs and foam option and had them covered to match your interior theme. Looks like you opted out of the 6-way power option too.

It also looks like your '56 made the cover of Classic Trucks (Feb 2015 edition). Your truck has the look I'm striving for with my '57 - stock with a classy, modern touch. Very nice.

Niko, The truck belongs to a guy in So. Calif. and we put it together for him.. He bought the seat and the foam and yes it was a bolt in.. he didn't get the power with it as i don't think he would have every used it.. I'm not sure if it made the cover of Classic Truck mag or not... i'll have to check it out and it would be nice if it did. Hope yours turn's out as nice as this one did.....glad you liked it..

Hmmm - the '56 that is in the magazine is owned by a guy in Canada, so I guess its not the one you worked on. Looks very similar though.

I think I'll go with the Good Guy seat for my '57. I'm thinking of going with the power option since I already went with power windows. I have a three point set of seatbelts from Julianos for a bench seat - they should fit with the Good Guys seat (I hope).

Thanks

The seat wasn't that bad until I started working on it and it got worse.. The new cover will look the same but with my last name stitched in the middle

Ogre, my dad once told me that if you stand on a street corner in NY sooner or later someone would walk by that you knew.... Being only 6 or 7 i told him no way that could happen to many people in the world..... but now that i'm much older it's become a very small world..... I was only 8 when we left NC and went back for just one year when i was about 11 but still have a ton of stories to tell about that place.... When i went there the HS was still standing. played my first baseball game at salem in little league.. our house if you google earth was the one in the middle at the cross roads of Burkemount and Brown Rd.. Brown Rd was named after the Brown family that owned all the land that now has all the houses on it.. the old farm house is still at the end of the road at the curve .. most of the streets in that area are named after people i knew when we lived there.... ..

Re: Let See Seats On Your 55-59 Truck

This seat came out of a 1979 Cadillac Coupe Deville. 6-way electric adjustment with stamped steel pan with foam inserts and fold down arm rest. Original material was brown velour. Its 53 inches wide and fits nicely in the cab. Left the head rests off when I upholstered the seat. To me its very comfortable.

Interesting color scheme, what made you choose it?

Re: Let See Seats On Your 55-59 Truck

Hey SCHRUMGMC. I had Clarance J painted yellow in 1975. At that time the upholstery was a dark and light brown vinyl. This time around I wanted something different. Looked at a lot of colors and liked the contrast so Lt aqua was my choice for both paint and upholstery.

Here is a set of cavalier buckets. They are going to fit with my console idea. They look really low but feel great

Here's my '57 seat that I just had done:

He did the visor and arm rests in the same vinyl and the headliner will come from that roll of material:
