First I'd check the fluid level. What all did you do, pull the motor and reinstall?

Re: Truck Truck, MY Truck

Check your fluid, of course, but if it's low, pop the upper "fill" fitting loose on the back of the transfer case (two square threaded plugs, pull the upper one). If a whole bunch of reddish fluid comes pouring out, you've got a leak between the transmission and the transfer case. If nothing comes out, stick a finger in there and make sure the transfer case oil level is about a knuckle down, and call it good. Your problem is elsewhere.

i think it leaked out of the trans, as there is a dark spot on the ground below it. Welllllllllllllllllll.

Re: Truck Truck, MY Truck

If it's empty, don't start it again until you have fluid in it.

Fill it back up and see what happens. There's only a few places they usually leak from. Pan gasket, front seal, rear seal, and speedometer cable assembly.

Re: Truck Truck, MY Truck

I don't know how they leak so much fluid that they won't move but it happens, I think the converter and or pistons slowly leak into the pan and that is how they loose so much fluid

That might just be the award for the week... heck, even the month!

Kidding, kidding! Glad you got it figured out. Driving them is more fun than sitting and looking at 'em.

Re: Truck Truck, MY Truck

I don't think what you did is stupid in the least, and not just because I did the same thing back when I first got in to these trucks. We all start knowing nothing, and then we learn. We learn through trial and error, we learn by asking questions from those who have been there done that. Sometimes it takes us a couple of times to figure something out ... But in my view, the third time isn't a charm, that's when you (and me lol) move in to dumb s... territory haha!!

lmfao. The 350 in this truck is STRONG but smokes a lip bit. Hmmmmm I'm thinking valve seals. It has enough power to smoke both rear 33s.

Don't feel bad...we all do stuff like that...I have a buddy who had an old Ford 4x4 truck. He calls me up and tells me it has no power and could I come over and take a look at it. He 'thought' he had a bad distributor so he had just installed a dual point ACCEL. Well, we go for a drive and he says see...it just revs up a lot but it is not going any faster....I say...hey it looks like your transfer case in in low range...he says yes it is but that makes no difference because the front driveshaft is disconnected....I say...NO...you are still in low range...So he stops the truck, shifts it into high range, problem solved. He didn't realize that the driveline runs through the transfer case...anyhow, he made me promise to not tell his wife...as far as she knows, the distributor fixed the problem...
