Mount Troubles

Ok i have a 6.0 all ready to be bolted in to my truck. I am having a major melt down over the engine mounts, I know it should be an easy answer but i an making my life hard. So this is what i want.

DONT WANT ADJUSTABLE MOUNTS. I know they work but i just dont like them.
I want to have a 1 7/8" long tube header.
Would like to have the ac in stock location not a must as AC will be added later
dont want to cut the frame to make the headers fit.
and would like a mount that replaces the Stock stamped Perches.

So far i have found 4 and i am wanting to know if A. Anyone has used them and B how did they fit. My main contenders are BRP and IFS My dislikes between the 2 are BRP is the $$$$ and IFS uses the clam-shell mount and i feel if i am spending money on a custom mount i dont want to use a clamshell.

So the 4 i have found is
POL
CPP
BRP Hot Rods

Re: Mount Troubles

What's wrong with the clamshell? If you don't use that, you will have to use the original style and it is inferior to the clamshell, or so I'm told. I am using the ECE (clamshell) mounts and they position the motor perfectly (they have 5/8" of adjustment though) I have heard good things about the POL and CPP mounts too.

Re: Mount Troubles

^^^ That's correct. If the neoprene (or whatever it is) wears out in a clam shell, the engine is still restrained, Vs the old sandwich style.

Re: Mount Troubles

Nothing is wrong with the clam-shell i just don't think a custom mount that cost 100 plus dollars should have that style mount and should come with a custom mount that has poly bushings. Also just talked with them and they told me that their mounts were no fabricated to be used with a LT headers. So I am to the point now that I think i will be buying the Brp Hot rods kit. Does anyone have experience buying thru them? Have pictures of the install as well as if any modifications needed to be done.

Thanks.

Re: Mount Troubles

Sounds like you need to sack up for custom headers.

Re: Mount Troubles

Ya that is what i will be doing I think kind of like to see the kit installed in a members truck before i pull the trigger. The brp hot rods kit is built around hooker headers that summit sells for 601 something raw steel. i have a guy here that can black ceramic coat for 135. So its still cheaper than what brp sells their regular coated set for.

So if anyone has a set of long tube headers i would love to see pictures mainly looking at Hedman Hedders 45690 Exhaust Headers but open to all long tube headers with all different mount set ups. But only long tube set ups please.

Thanks.

Stan,
I have a SBC that I was looking for long tube options. What headers are yours? Do they hang below the bottom of the frame?
Thanks,
Russ
