Wheel and Tire Combo, Advice

Hello all,
I recently ordered and received my US Mags 18x9.5 with Nitto 275/40R18 rear and 18x8 with Nitto 245/40R18 front. Truck has a 3/5 drop on it. First let me say I have not seen the wheels and tires mounted in person, they put the wheels and tires on it at the shop and sent me these pics. Hopefully it looks better in person but I am not happy with the way they look as of now. They look way too small!!

My options I'm considering,
1) 60 series tire in rear and 50 series in front...might still be unhappy
2) keep current tires and lower truck further....I really don't want it much lower
3) 20" rims with same tire sizes, it previously had 20"s with 245/35/20 all around and filled the wheel wells much better.....loss on selling new ones and buying new ones

No matter what I choose, I'm taking a hit in the wallet, these are brand new but look just a tad small. I would really love to see pics of someone who has a similar set up with 18"s and 60 series tire on rear and 50 on front if anybody has one.

40 series tires on 18" are a bit small for these truck, in my opinion. I have the 20" (9.5" rear and 8" front) Ramblers on my build with 40 series tires (245 &275). My truck has a 4/6 drop and the top of the rubber is at the fender. The wheels are off my truck so we can bleed the brakes and I dont have any pics of the wheels and bed on the truck. Heres the best pic I have so far....

That's a great stance, just what I'm going for, I figured the only way to get away without lowering is to go with 20's again. Thanks for posting.

40 series are way too thin for an 18 on these trucks. I ran 18” billet specialties with 40 series tires on my 71 nova 20 years ago and it was slammed tonthe ground.

You figure my 15’s have a 10.5 wide by 31 tall tire on them and im dropped 2 in the front/ stock height out back.

With 275 width you would want 55-60 series for a stock height profile?

And while im thinking my ram has 275/55r20’s on it that spec out at 33’s
You really need to check the specs on the companys website as they all vary. But like you were getting at, one series thinner on the front.

With 275 width you would want 60 series for a stock height profile, so maybe down to a 55 since your lowered?

Your timing is spot on. I just finished going through the same agony as you and was set on 18" rims no matter what. I ended up with 18x9.5 rear running a 265/60 and 18x8 front running 255/55 Nitto tires. They fill the wheels wells perfect. The photo is with a 3" rear drop that i just changed to 5" and the front is a guess at 3-4". Im not looking for a set of drop spindles for the front as theres room to go down a bit more.

That's probably the route I'm going for now anyway, will be least expensive. Truck looks great

I've been in the same boat. Problem is there are not a whole lot of optimal options for trucks with 18s. I'm running 18x8 front and 9.5 rear Ridlers. Currently I have 235/50/18 on the front and 255/55/18 on the back. I've pretty much decided on 245/45/18 front and 295/45/18 in the back. There's a decent possibility I'm going to have to run a 1/4"-1/2" spacer to make the back work.

Truck has 2.5" drop spindles and 1 coil cut out of the front and a 4" drop spring in the rear.

This truck is just a cheap beater so I'm trying not to spend any more money than I have to and already had these wheels. 20s have a lot more tire options and that's what I'm going with on my '67 project.

Thank you, truck looks good. My main concern with going to a 55 or 60 series is that all the side markers are shaved and there is not going to be trim on the truck. My personal opinion on the wheel and tire set up is it needs to have a lower profile tire more of a pro touring style look due to the trim and markers being shaved. Pretty sure only way to do that is go bigger and lower. After seeing yours and the step side above, I think I'll be happy with a higher profile.

I researched a ton and looked at close to a hundred trucks in person and even more online trying to get this right the first time. Only thing better than education is experience...right!!

Looks really good, I guess I don't hate the taller sidewall. I appreciate it.
