Best brand of engine
I am toying with the idea of getting a 383 stroker for my 62 c10. What brand would you all recommend. Would that even be a good engine for a truck. Does it have enough torque or would that depend on how it is built?

Re: Best brand of engine
Lots of people are running a 383. It should be a fine engine for your truck. As far as torque, a lot of how much it makes depends on cam selection. I'm no pro at that by any stretch. I'll let more knowledgeable folks chime in on that one.

Re: Best brand of engine
Are you looking for a crate motor? I know nothing about this guy but he has a zillion engine builds on YT. Claims to custom build from mild to wild using nothing but quality parts if you tell him what you want it to do. He does a lot of 383's.

Re: Best brand of engine
The best brand of 383 is a chevy. Dodge 383's sucked.

Re: Best brand of engine
When I said brand I meant more like edelbrock or blueprint rather than dodge chevy or ford.
I looked at that guys website and I am not really looking for a street strip engine. Just a street motor that’s fun and exciting to drive. The prices on thes engines are all over the place. |

Re: Best brand of engine
Chevrolet Performance offers at least one 383 and I would say it is hard to beat their reputation.
