Mine has a line going from the valve on the snorkel to the valve under the base of the air cleaner then from that valve to a port on the carb I cannot remember if it's full or ported vacuum.

There should be a couple clip tabs that the hose clips into on the edge of the base as well

Does it matter which way the lines are connected to the thermal valve? Or is it purely on/off and works both ways?

The hose from the switch to carburetor goes to the port that sticks out through the choke on the passenger side of the Quadrajet.

Re: 350 Air Cleaner Vacuum Line Photo Needed

Thanks for the photo but my 71 350 has a different attachment set up for the hoses underneath the base. Is that filter base for a dual jet carb ? Mine is a qjet...thanks again

Re: 350 Air Cleaner Vacuum Line Photo Needed

Here's my Q-jet one. As you can see the line from the valve on top goes to the inner port, the line from the carb to the outer port, although it's not connected in the picture.

That's different from the guy above but I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter, it's a vacuum switch. You can check the factory assembly manual to see if there's any detail in there...

If yous is different yet again from these two I think YOU need to post a picture, it might not be original to the truck or something.

Re: 350 Air Cleaner Vacuum Line Photo Needed

Thanks Dave for taking the time to post the picture! Mine is different in the fact it has clamps to hold dual , two hoses not just one ? I will post a photo later today. I connected hoses yesterday like your but the valve remained closed after running the engine for a while, it was in the mid eighties outside temp, figured it should have opened up at that temp. If I connect a line directly to carb port it closes up, disconnect the hose and it opens up so I know the valve works on snorkel

Re: 350 Air Cleaner Vacuum Line Photo Needed

I put a new vacuum switch thing in mine, they're a couple of dollars. Only downside is they're green, but it's inside the air cleaner so you never see it.

I think they shoot for 105F or somewhere around there, so won't open fully unless they're connected to the heat stove, I'd imagine.

Re: 350 Air Cleaner Vacuum Line Photo Needed

Thanks for that info about the temp sender in base Dave ! I hope you can see the photo I posted of my air cleaner base ? Kind of dark but mine has two separate clamps to secure dual vacuum lines, trying to figure out why and how to properly run the lines. Where did you get the sender you replaces and how do the mount ?

Re: 350 Air Cleaner Vacuum Line Photo Needed

Are you looking for exact restoration details or proper functionality, or ????

One goes to a carb manifold vacuum source; then to the switch; then from the other port on the switch to the valve on the snorkel. That's it, that's all there is to it.

How they routed the lines on yours is a mystery to me because it's different than the other ones I've seen. Maybe small block Q-jet is all its own?

Re: 350 Air Cleaner Vacuum Line Photo Needed

Just trying to replicate what was original . Obviously two hoses where run thru the mounting clips not just one like in the photos posted so far. Again looking for a photo that shows the dual hose hook up. Thanks for your input Dave.

Sorry, don't have one like that! Hopefully a small block Q-Jet setup won't be too trick to locate...
